Since wierd problems require wierd ideas... My theory is that low ground voltage to the plug was overworking the coils.. But I am guessing on all of this.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to load test the coil powers and grounds with a headlight.

    minor tweaks
Ground shouldn't have any voltage, it's an easy check, measure to see if there's a voltage drop between the grounding point on the block and negative batt terminal with the key on.

Is there a list of all the grounds in the engine bay?

Thanks! I am really curious if there is a rusted ground. I had to get the frame repaired and I might have overlooked some connections.

The ground for the coils and some of the ECM grounds are at Ground Point EE on the back of the right cylinder head.

There's a stupid one on the power steering pump and on the frame next to it if I recall.

Yea Ground Point EC, it's for the ignition noise filter capacitor only and has a redundant ground at Ground Point ED.

same crap. On my Blue HiLux (in my avatar) there was a small white ground like that one on the firewall. I swapped the motor and it wouldn't start for weeks until we found it. Hoping against hope, this could be a bad ground, tho I kinda doubt it.

Well people... I am giving up. Toyota says they can find nothing wrong with the truck but I need coils. I have already bought a new truck soon to be my new rig. I am going to sell the 2nd gen but it's gotta be someone who is looking for a rig to build. I did not trade it in for the $500 they would give me. I hate giving up...

Be on the lookout for my new Tacoma and PM me if you are interested in my 2nd gen.
