Has anyone figured out a work around for the factory system to have zip drives play according to genre like country, rap, heavy metal, pop, etc etc? At least other than buying a new radio lol

It's useful to have smaller capacity drives, each with a genre for this reason, but also because navigating a large file system while driving isn't the best option.

I second this, that's what I've done. I use separate SD cards stored in one of these along with a Micro SD to USB adapter.

On my 2015 radio in my 2013, I have the option for genre on my radio and can tell it to play only classic rock, blues...etc. Your mp3's must be tagged with genre to be able to do it. I used MusicBrainz Picard with the last.fm plug in to add genre. On your radio, hit the browse button while playing the usb stick and where artists, songs..etc is at the top, look for genre. if it's not there, then most likely, your mp3's are not tagged with genre.

Interesting. I know I don't have a genre tab. How do I create the tags on the stick? Do I just create genre groups? I'm one of those 80s weirdos that has groups like: chillin tunes, metal jams, new country, outlaw country, hating life music, mediation, etc etc

The stock stereo is pure trash. Lacking playing.mp3 by folders is a testament on the lazyness and cheapness of toyotas.
Swapped.my 2015 hu for a kenwood. Sounds totally incredible and its super enjoyable, not like then crappy stock hu.

I'm kind of getting that feeling myself. I may give up and do the same but hate to spend the money if new speakers takes care of the horrible sound quality. I'm comparing brands now
