No, at least not while I'm here. I couldn't use by RTT rack if I had fiberglass bedsides and I would likely mash them up pretty quickly on trails.

Custom and custom. Cut them out from a thick piece of rubber and hung them on a 1" square tube I welded to the frame that comes out and helps support the bedside as well.

Some pics from life in general in Alaska. Mostly hunting... because hunting is life right now.

Biolite charging the GoPro. It's a camp stove that has an electric fan that provides oxygen to the fire. It charges itself from the thermal energy put off by the fire and provides a USB port to charge small electronics.

Why haven't I looked at this thread before. I need to go to the same places you've been exploring! Where's that little lake at that you camped by?

That's awesome! I've heard of coal mine road before, seems really nice out there. I'm making a trip up to Atigun pass in July but am taking the parks highway to Fairbanks, looks like I'll need to make a separate trip to Fairbanks sometime on the Richardson highway or just come back down that way

You can always take the parks to denali to the Richardson. Will add a half day to a full day to your trip but it's a great trip.

We just did a loop, took the Richardson to Denali to the Parks. About 500 miles total with all the side trails we did.

Didn't even realize that, I see what you mean, time to start planning on hitting some side trails! All of the trails down here are either near Sutton or Wasilla. You would Alaska would have a lot more 4x4 trails

Ever get fucked with by the bears up there at night? Clearly you are armed, but do you worry much about them at night rummaging through your shit (or eating you).

I've remote camped in tents most of my adult life and I have never had a serious issue. I've only been in Alaska for a year, no issues yet and I don't anticipate it.

I've bumped into plenty of bears while out and about, both black and brown bears, without issue. I've never had one rummage through camp. I've been camped in campgrounds and watched them go through other peoples' camps (food out in the open).

To put it in perspective, we hunt bears over bait. We put a 55 gallon drum full of donuts and bread, coated in grease from a BBQ joint, in the best bear territory we can find. Sometimes we go days, if not weeks, with our bait not being hit by the bears.

So I figure when I'm keeping my food in air tight containers, eating away from where I sleep, not sleeping in the same clothes I cook/eat in, etc. that my chances of a bear confrontation are pretty low. Plus we are up off the ground in the RTT. Any full grown bear could easily stand up and reach into the tent, but he wouldn't be able to bring his weight down on you like they can if you're on the ground.

I carry a 10mm Glock and my .308 AR is never too far when out in remote places.
