I took a picture of the odometer when my 96 Tacoma turned 400,000km's.

    So far my 84 4Runner had 440,000 km's when I sold it
my 86 Camy had 470,000 km's when I sold it
and my 96 Tacoma had 423,000 km's when I sold it.

My 08 Tacoma is just about to turn 32,000 miles (I bought it in the States).
Judging by the milage others posted, I'm sure (hopeing) it will make it beyond 250,000 miles.

I'm now at 143,000 & the only thing that failed was the battery last summer. Everything else is working fine. No rattles, everything is holding up.

Did either of you have any issues with the motor mount / frame issue (motor mounts "punching" through the frame on the 05's / early 06's)? I've been considering adding some gussets between the motor mounts and the frame for piece of mind and I'm trying to get some other owners opinions who have the 05s with higher mileage.

Do you guys mainly use your truck for commuting, or do you do off-roading as well?

It's actually really reassuring seeing you guys post up your mileage! Makes me feel like I actually made a good investment for long haul :)

Any issues with the motor mounts / frame issue? Did you gusset the frame?

Take it from someone who has been without their truck since August - ADD THE GUSSET / REINFORCEMENT KIT !! Do it before it is too late and you have a mess on your hands that you have to fix immediately.

Hoping to get the truck back sometime this week. Motor mount collapsed Aug 30, 2011.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...tor-mounts-failed-failing-15.html#post4223283

EDIT: Oh yeah, somewhere around 111,000 miles on the truck. Can't remember exactly though as it's been awhile...

This truck is a beast! I have owned Dodge, Mazda & Shitty... I mean Chevy.
I have had this truck in over 4 feet of snow and stuck door handle deep in the mud. It has been from Florida to Maine and as far west as Indiana. The only issue I had in all this time was the front wheel bearing. BEST truck I have owned EVER!!

These are great trucks. I have 111000 on my '02 and all I that has went wrong with it is the battery. On my 3rd. It still drives and runs like the day I bought it new. My brother has a '98 5 lug with close to 300K.

i was wondering how many miles the OP has on his truck now (original post for 100K was back in 2008) but i see he's now sporting a 2011.

anyway, i have less than 2K on my truck so far, but it is reassuring to hear all these other folks post their high mileage/no issues comments.

I agree - the pre 2005 were great trucks. I sold my '98 with around 185K on it with little issues.

Apples to oranges when comparing the pre and post 2005.

The post 2005 trucks are still better than the majority of the competition, but don't come close to the pre 2005 models when it comes to durability.
