Near completion pics, 4 days of actually working on it after grueling year of research, parts collection, and growing the balls to cut my truck up knowing that theres no going back

Didn't really take many build pics but I can post at a later date, but I included some attachments and there are some pics of the changes my truck went through over the past 2.5 years

    Parts used:
78 Ford F350 D44HD axle housing with 76 Chevy K-10 Outters to match lug pattern, hammered in solid axle yota studs, 4:88s ,Detroit locker and Warn Premium Hubs

4" Wagoneer Lift springs up front

High steer arm on passenger side for crossover steering

    Rebuilt Toyota IFS steering Box

Borgeson Steering shaft and steering joints

    3rd member with a Detroit and 4:88s

10" alcan springs w/3 inch block

Custom spring and shackle hangers built by me

    3/16 plate for frame reinforcement

    16.5x14 Welds w/37 13.50 Boggers

Pirtek made my brakelines and a local shaft shop is building my driveshafts

So here are the results, and yes it will see mud

Crossover steering relocates the steering arm to the other end of the axle, instead of the side it was placed on in a factory set up, or where the steering box resides. It works better when you have or expect more travel from your suspension. If you keep the steering arm on the factory side, then you'll often experience bind as you're turning and the axle is cycling. That's due to the fact that there is really on so much curvature you can put into a steering arm and have it function correctly. In a stock configuration, with stiffer more limited axle travel, it's usually not a problem. It starts to effect steering, depending on the vehicle manufacturer, the higher the lift and more the travel. On a stiff GM solid axle truck, people usually notice a reduction in steering to one side at about 4" and above.

As for hi-steer, it usually means they have also relocated the tie rod up above the axle, instead of in front of the axle. Since I don't see that on this truck, I suspect OP is referring to the arm he used.

great looking truck, and very nice work, OP.

Hopefully my answers to your questions have helped a touch ;)

Looks good. Any particular reason you went with leaf springs vs. linking it?

    Also '79 F350 was a D60. F150 and F250 were D44's.

Yours needs 40's! Haha, I seriously considered it but I like the stance I have with the 37s for now. AND I already spent the money on my gears. If I buy a set of 20x12's or 14's, they'll probably hey 40" Toyo MTs
