A D44 wont live long with 40's. Even full chromo won't help much.

And 4D's are too damn much money, lol. :p

Regardless I got the housing I needed, was told it was out of a 350 but they very well could have been mistaken. And I went with leaves because all of the swaps on older Yotas, we did with leaves. Honestly links were quite a bit more involved, this was a semi budget build. And I will also never put the coils to their potential use. The leaves are simple to square up and I just have a lot of faith in myself as far as working with them. Granted, your rig will clearly go far more places than mine, but I like mudholes and high water so springs were a ton less costly for me to get my desired height. You've been more than helpful and I appreciate all of the input. My steering shaft and ujoints, are identical to yours.

I was just curious, really. Between the PM's, I was searching for this thread to appear, and was curious what direction you were taking with it.

Leaves sound like they will serve you just fine. :D

A little more reason. My next build will most likely be very similar with a Tundra and 60's front and rear

thank god! finally a leaf sprung 2nd gen I can reference!

im just guessing by doing that, that the cost of parts is probly around 2/3 versus coilovers/links?

seriously I have been waiting a long time for your truck to pop up. thanks for sharing!

Build cost was substantially lower, and I still have money coming back to me from my old lift so that's a win

just out of curiosity though, being that all others I have seen have coilovers/links and though I see a lot of leaf-sprung crawlers on the trail (Toyota pickups, cj's and yj's)

why don't more Tacomas use leafs for the front?

Because most people cannot set them up properly and offer a poor ride. Most of the older toyotas and jeeps are just cheap set-ups, leafs are undoubtedly cheaper. And honestly, leafs are old technology.

Nice sas. Looks clean. that d44 should hold up fine. I have an old chevy k5 with a d44 front that weighs WWAAYY more than a tacoma and it's been on 37's for years without issue. and hasn't been used lightly:D

I'll give you $50 for your old steering rack, plus shipping. I think it turned out sweet! 37's and 4.88's are a perfect match with our rigs...the speedo is even right! :D

Lol at the Jenga reference. It's actually a very reliable stabilization method that we use in the fire service. But it does look janky in this pic

2nd... WHERE ARE YOU and why haven't you been to any of our get togethers? Is that your shop?

3rd... Can you give me an guesstimate on what it cost? I saw something about 2 - 3... is that about right?

Lastly... would you do it again? :D
