In my opinion he meant since he owns a business he actually does work. Some business owners don’t even care and won’t ever show up. Just a guess.

But then there are some business owners that work 18 hours a day... I’m guessing that’s what he meant

That don’t sit right with me. I guess we’re even. But seriously I know many business owners that don’t do a thing. I work 12 to 18 hours a day. Me saying I actually work shouldn’t offend anyone. If you have a issue with that, too bad.

Judging by the way you've injected yourself into this thread, and the manner in which you did, I'm guessing there are a LOT of things that don't 'sit right' with you, professor...

My brother is a working man that spends most of his life on the road, working. Builds swimming pools and for every pool built, probably drives three or four hundred miles for estimates that never pan out. He had just under 400K on the clock when he traded in his 7 or 8 year old second gen.
Keep it up, my friend.

Oh look, someone got offended. Whats wrong with this forum?

Anyways, any luck with the AC OP? Please, for the sake of all us that want to keep our trucks a long time, please let this thread archive with a resolution. Too many of these problem threads pop up and then the OP goes MIA never to be heard from again.

If it's working intermittently and shuts off after awhile, Perhaps your compressor clutch is wearing out and slipping a bit. Good next place to check if your charge is still decent. Very easy, cheap fix, too. One bolt.

Just a thought op, if u have an obd plug and The fusion app, u Can check functions of the AC. I'll bet there's a status of the AC clutch, on / off. There's quite a few other pids that might give ya some direction. I know for a fact there's a desired temp, thermistor temp and pressure pids

Following thread to see if AC ever “actually works” after repairs.

Stay strong OP........where I live very few people actually work, but they do a shit-tonne or complaining, feeling indignant, and virtue signalling. If only I could turn all their negative energy into cash!

Here’s a testament to all the naysayers whining about their 3rd gen “reliability issues”. Awesome mileage! I have a neighbor down the block with 2 3rd gens and he has around 400k between the both of them. He uses them for contracting work trucks but both of them are the V6. Regular maintenance and no issues.

Go to harbor freight and get a set of gauges for $30 with coupon. Then give us some pressures.

If you are low on refrigerant, then you can charge it up and see if it leaks out again.

If its not low then you probably have an electronics issue and then IDK I hate electronics.

If its just low then its a pretty easy fix, find the leak, replace the part, keep on truckin.

I do AC stuff all the time and its just not as complicated as people think it is, parts are cheap and easy to swap. You don't need factory parts for AC as there are no moving parts to need precision engineering. Generally you can buy the whole damned system for a few hundred bucks and AC guys will try to charge you THOUSANDS. I don't get it, makes no sense to me. Nothing is as over priced as AC work.

Well the first non maintenance items went bad at 245,000 miles ( motor mounts) are bad on my 2016 Tacoma Sr with 2.7liter. Noticed it running ruff at idle. Had it checked out and looks like I'm spending Sunday putting mounts in. Dealer wanted $80 a piece for them well I found them at AutoZone for $34 each we will see how they hold up. Love my Toyota

It’s the compressor clutch. A guy at a local shop took a pry bar and hit the pulley on the front of compressor and air started working like normal , till I shut the truck off when I got home. They cannot work on it because 1234YF Freon. The 1234YF recovery machine is 10k and most shop don’t have it. Called Toyota dealer and they said it would be between $500/$800 to repair.

Well, this thread brings me a lot of joy. I have a 2017 SR with the 4-banger, and have 16K miles on it, so call it 6K miles/year. If mine will go 240K miles, I'll never have to buy another vehicle again! :D

Maybe shop around. Recovery/compressor removal isn't always necessary to replace the clutch components.
