Thought id make a thread on my build and see what you guys think. I have a 2001 Tacoma extra cab, 4x4, manual tans, TRD Off-road package. Just hit 100k miles a little over a week ago.

First mods done were about 1 year ago when I installed K&N Cold Air Intake and Bilstein 5100 adjustable leveling kit.
After K&N Cold Air Intake Install about a year ago: IMG_2493.jpg

More recently I started planning for a supercharger. I purchased a Magnuson Supercharger with the URD 7th injector kit. I also purchased a boost, AFR, EGT, Fuel Pres, and Oil Pres gauge.

I designed a laser cut piece of dash plastic to hold three of the gauges above my head unit. I while back I had a single DIN alpine head unit installed to replace the factory double din radio and a plastic pocket was installed bellow the new head unit to fill the space. To fit the gauges I removed the plastic cubby. Moved the radio down and mounted the gauges above. I got the idea for this gauge mount from speedys garage.
I also purchased a 2 gauge pillar from LC Engineering for the two other gauges. To power the gauges I installed a cirkuit boss aftermarket fuse box so the gauges would be on their own fuses. I hid the fuse box behind the drives side kick panel. I decided to go with GlowShift gauges. The gauges come with a wire attached that wehn supplied power it dims the gauges. Ideally i would have attached this to the switch when turning on headlights so they dim with the rest of the interior but instead I used a wire from the cirkuit boss and put my own switch to dim the gauges.

    Laser cut mount for Gauges:

    Test sizing on center dash:

    Pillar Gauges:
    IMG_1191 2.jpg

For the fuel pressure sensor I bought a special banjo bolt that connected to the fuel rail and allowed to to attach a relocation hose which the fuel pressure sensor connects to the end.
Stock Banjo Bolt on the right:IMG_5221.jpg
I had to use a 90 degree adapter so everything would still fit behind the timing cover:
    IMG_4477.jpg

For the Oil Press gauge I purchased the glowshift oil filter sandwich plate adapter which allowed me to install the sensor right next to the oil filter.

For EGT probe I drilled and tapped a hole directly after the exhaust manifold on cylinder 1,3,5 side and sealed with extreme heat JB weld.

Boost gauge is just a vacuum line running from the boost fort on the supercharger to the gauge.

Finally for the Air/Fuel Ratio sensor I had a bung welded into my exhaust before the catalytic converters.
    IMG_0453.jpg IMG_5232.jpg

Once I finished the gauges I moved onto the supercharger install. Ran into a few little roadblocks along the way but nothing major. During the install I also changed Valve cover gaskets.
    IMG_2266.jpg
Once I had the supercharger finished I started with the upgrades. Started with the URD 7th Injector kit which included an upgraded fuel pump. For the URD Piggy-back ECU install you need to tap into 7-8 ECU, connect a vacuum line to the boost port on the supercharger and solder the wiring from the 7th injector to the control box l. I chose to put the control unit behind the passenger kick panel. Its out of sight, close to the ECU wires and easy to run wiring and vacuum/boost line through the rubber boot in the firewall behind the glove box. The 7th Injector goes into the EGR port on the supercharger. You need to cut about an inch out of the high pressure fuel line and connect a T-Fitting included with the injector from the fuel line to the injector and you must solder the wires on the injector to the corresponding wires on the control unit.
    IMG_1257.jpg IMG_4071.jpg IMG_3305.jpg

After the 7th Injector was complete the truck was running much better under boost. Previously around 5psi boost AFRs would be between 13-14. Now under high boost numbers AFRs drop to between 11-12.5

Once the 7th injector was finished I installed the smaller 2.2 inch supercharger pulley. Before I was seeing around 7psi boost max with the stock 2.37inch pulley. After the 2.2 inch pulley was installed I am now seeing between 9-10 pounds of boost.
    IMG_0879.jpg

    IMG_1189.jpg
Last thing I currently have to install is the URD supergrip crankshaft pulley
    IMG_9759.jpg IMG_2783.jpg
Thinking maybe water/meth injection next :)

Congratulations on going for the supercharger :thumbsup:Let me know if you're willing to sell me
your old airbox and associated take-off stuff, I hate the loudness of my trucks cold-air-intake...

I'm in Upstate South Carolina (near Clemson)...

What about the souped up gas pump? Isn't that part of adding
    a supercharger?

The URD 7th Injector kit comes with a Walbro 190LHP fuel pump which I installed before doing the 7th injector. Before the supercharger but after I installed the gauges fuel pressure was always constant at about 43psi. When installing the supercharger you hook up the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line to the boost port on the supercharger. After the supercharger install fuel pressure at idle is around 33-34psi and goes up to over 50psi under high boost. After adding the 7th injector fuel pressure numbers stayed normal even with another injector

If I could magically do a few things to my truck, they would be in this order:

Auto to manual swap (not a fan of auto)
    4x4 conversion (Pre-runner)
    SC install

My hesitation is not a money issue, it's that I have been told by a few different car people and industry folks that adding these components MAY prematurely wear out the engine. Again, I'm no expert, and this looks fun as hell and totally worth doing.

But mostly, I wish my truck were a 5 speed so bad sometimes it makes my teeth hurt.

Any plans to install an oil catch can now that you're boosted? I'm about to install one and I'm NA.

Definitely worth the time and money for me. The whole project was tons of fun and the truck is a blast to drive now. Ill definitely get a video up soon. I love the sound.
As for the head unit it has been great. Does everything its supposed to and had it for a few years now. I also installed the mic to the head unit for handsfree calls

If thats what you then go for it! I cant help you much with the auto to manual swap or 4x4 conversion but in my opinion the supercharger is totally worth it. I did quite a bit of research before installing the supercharger and decided that there wasnt too much risk involved. Back when TRD still made the same supercharger Toyota would still keep the truck under warranty with a supercharger install. And for the 2.2 inch pulley I added the 7th injector to eliminate any potential detonation. I imagine that the supercharger definitely will have slight more wear on the engine than a stock motor but these motors are already pretty damn tough and I have heard of supercharged 5VZs going for a long time with little to no problems

Definitely something I am considering and would help for long term life of the engine. Let me know how yours goes. I imagine the install is pretty simple. Does it just connect to the PCV valve that goes back toward the throttle body on the passenger side valve cover?
