Just put an AirTag in my truck, coincidentally a very similar truck to OP, but it pings off other iphones to triangulate position. Only downside is somebody taking your vehicle can see if there’s an AirTag because it will alert them if they have an iphone so they can potentially find it and toss it. It’s a good idea to hide it in a place that’s impossible to find.

My best wish for you is you find another truck and never see the stolen truck or the people who stole it. I say this because I too hail from Louisiana and understand there would come a reckoning.

You do not want it back. Get another truck and move on. Make sure the insurance company knows the condition and the equipment and insist they take that into account.

 

Do you anticipate major changes coming for the 4Runner? That would be on my radar for my next vehicle.

I put one in a truck and forgot to take it out when I sold it a few months ago. Evidently whoever owns it now doesn’t care that their iPhone keeps pinging them about an AirTag or uses an Android phone. It’s usually in Albuquerque NM but right now it shows the truck is in Miami OK. Didn’t even know there was a Miami in Oklahoma before now.

Yes, if you’re close enough to an AirTag you don’t own then it will pop up on your iphone. If you put it back behind a taillight it might not notify the thief that it’s there.

My fleet is all different, I love them all for different reasons. I definitely want a 4Runner too though.

If I could get a 4Runner MT, I’d swap the 3rd Gen Tacoma for that. I don’t see a ton of extra value in the 5’ bed vs 4Runner hatch. Back seats are a little tight. Then again if DCLB were offered in MT, I’d get one.

I’d hunt for something semi rare, it’s more fun that way.

 

Just got a 5spd 4x4 4runner last month, love it. Power rear window on the hatch is great for dogs. Fold rear seats down and it's a 6 foot enclosed bed

 

AFAIK, Toyota is dropping the V6 for 4-cylinder turbos in the new Tacoma and 4Runner.

Seems like they may be offering hybrids, which would be the choice for torque and power.

Either way, with all the supply-chain BS still hanging-over, getting your hands on a new 2024 might be tricky...and definitely expensive!
