my buddy caught the guy who stole his motorcycle by doing that!! It was all custom so it was easy to find the parts on CL. He went through all the motions and at the end all he got was the motor cuz the cops said thats the only thing with a number and that they can prove is his. He even had pics of him on the bike with all the parts that were clearly custom but he still got screwed.

What is with everyone getting their trucks broken into or stolen? It seems to happen a lot within the few months. Am i missing something? But OP i hope you find your truck within the week, Karma is a bitch and it will come to those theifs. When they get caught they will be going to pound me in the ass prison.

This is bullshit. I'm sorry man. I don't think these assholes should go to prison, I think they should be shot.

Only a really stupid thief would use Cragslist nowadays. I think this thief had to be a little smarter than that. I would suspect the thief or thieves did employ the use of a tow truck.

Sorry about your loss. I've had lots stolen, found some. Follow-up on any hunches. I'd totally believe a tow company. Check theater survelience as well as down the street in all directions. Act fast.

I just had my old Toyota stolen in Mexico while at the Baja 1000. It leaves you feeling really vulnerable. The ball is definitely in thieves court as they've got nothing to lose.

I had it paid off so I know it was not repoed. And I asked the theater if there were any cameras that I could look at or the police could see them and there was nothing they said. Its sad how someone could just take it and even if someone did see they would not know it was getting stolen or just repoed. Im dealing with the insurance now but I just wish I could have that one back just like they took it. I feel so violated and its a shitty ass feeling.

Ya like really even if you had a alarm and a tow truck stole it who would even notice. You need some kind of tracking hardware. You probably do not want it back. It will be trashed by now.

There are a TON of taco's here in SoCal but I've been diligently looking at each and everyone I see. I'll keep looking.

While I was in Portland OR two weeks ago I had my roof basket & hi-lift stolen while I was in a movie. It was a Sunday evening and the parking lot was full of cars & people. Someone had the balls to climb on my truck and unbolt the basket which had the hi-lift mounted on it from the cross bars...of course the security cameras didn't cover the part of the lot I parked in and I even passed a security officer on a Segway while I was parking.

This isn't nearly as bad as having the entire truck stolen but I can relate. I had my built '85 stolen from me that was never recovered, $12k worth of mods and my insurance dumped me a few weeks prior w/o notification...long story.

Hang in there and I hope you find your truck. My recent experience has me currently investing in highly upgraded security equipment!

Just as everyone else has been saying, that fucking sucks man. I hate thieves! Off topic, but if you get a replacement truck, and then months later, they find your truck, what happens? Do you get to choose which truck you want?

The most expensive security equipment can't stop 'em...only parking it in a garage or someplace where they can't drag it onto a flatbed. The standard way to do it is drag the vehicle out and up onto a flatbed and haul it to the warehouse garage and then strip it.

Sorry to say it, but if they hadn't found OP's within a couple days they'd only find parts. MAYBE they took it to a warehouse/garage, jimmied the alarm at their convenience and then drove it into Mexico. Either way, it's highly unlikely they drove it from where he parked it; they don't care to start it or even open it up.
