Hey guys first time posting here. Got a problem that I can't find any info online for. Basically I can shift my 2012 Tacoma out of park and into any gear without the brake pressed or key in the ignition. I think the problem is with the shift interlock solenoid, but I'm not sure how do diagnose the problem. Any information would be appreciated!!!

From the indications I would say that the shift lock solenoid is stuck or broken. I guess another alternative is that the small button that overrides the shift lock could be stuck in a pressed condition also.

For it to release the shift lever you would need to have power ( key in ignition and on ) in order to retract the locking pin. Also the Shift Lock Controller wouldn't even be powered on with the key out of the ignition.

Shift lock override from the owners manual.
