Thanks for the great read. I'm from the same school. As much as I hate the thought of self driving cars, im afraid we'll need them with the generations to come...

I'm glad I got a 2016 before they came out with those fancy schmanzy power sliding rear windows. Dunno, I just like to slide my own rear window. But anyway, great story. I love happy endings ;)

Everybody did but one guy lol. It's not even about me as much as it is the transition towards self driving cars for everyone. The TSS system is the beginning, not the end. Just wanted to hang on a bit longer to the old ways with a new vehicle.

Especially since some people will now think they can screw off more while driving because a vehicle will make up for it

I probably only have another 15-20 years of driving left so I'm looking forward to the technology personally. It would have made getting the keys out of my dad's hands a lot easier

So much retrogrouchiness in here. Git off m’lawn attitudes whilst driving rolling computers. Yeah, that’s you ‘17’s, too. When late-1st gen’s and 2nd gen Taco’s hit, the Hilux and early Taco guys said the same thing. Auto hubs? Power windows? CD player?? Bah!!

I like my ‘17 well enough. If I had to move to an ‘18, I’d have zero complaints. I get that some may feel because they don’t get beeped at every 10 minutes, they’re somehow driving spartan mobiles. Ok, if that makes you feel better, whatever. But don’t kid yourselves. You got more tech in your radio than an entire truck from just a couple decades ago.

I’d love to see some of you drive a real truck with minimal tech. Get in an ‘81 Pickup. No cruise. No sound insulation, no PS, PW, 80hp (2.7L guys should transition nicely :D), no A/C, leaf springs all around— let’s see how long you last and still cling to this anti-progress/tech attitudes. :)

Hey, my first car didn’t have seatbelts or backup lights, they were optional upgrades!

Git off my lawn! Go on, GIT!

I'm the same way. I just want to drive. The funny thing is, and maybe it's also ironic, is that I'd like a lot of the drivers around me to have these tech features.

I mean, damn, shut your high beams off! And also for these people, headlights should automatically turn on when wipers are on.

THIS. Why can’t this be mandatory tech right now? This should have been standard years ago.

My first new vehicle was a 1984 4Runner so yeah, i have driven a few with no frills lol.

Its NOT about the tech. Of course i know what im driving. Last time... It's about traditional vehicles transitioning towards self driving vehicles! And I'm fine with that! The 2017 was the last year for Tacoma that you could get it without TSS. TSS is the start point for self driving in the Tacoma. Yes, it can be turned off, but it's still there and will expand to other safety and self driving features in the future. It won't go away and I'm fine with that for my next vehicle.

Seriously, were there too many words in that first post?

Definitely. But to be expected from a senile retrogrouch.

Shit, the headlights on my 2004 Tacoma never turned off. Talk about high tech. But then it also had manual locks and windows :jerkoff:
