I just picked up my Tacoma Utility two days ago. I was pleasantly surprised to find it came with an intermittent wiper, even though the window sticker said it was deleted as part of the Utility Package. Could this be a new feature for 2022 Utilities, or just some parts shortage irregularity.

My 21 utility SR has them too. I thought I read somewhere around here that they're standard equipment now.

Sorry, I jumped the gun. Just after I made this post I also found a post where someone said intermittent wipers started with the 2021 Utility builds. I need to search TW more before I make posts.

It's cheaper to make only one wiper control....

Funny thing is the window sticker for my 2022 still showed the intermittent wiper delete, even though it wasn't deleted. That's why I thought I got the intermittent wiper in error.

My 98 civic coupe came with intermittent wipers and I’m slightly annoyed I have to pay for one in my 18 sr.

It's possible that your '18 has the underpinnings for IW, but the stalk on your steering column just can't turn it on.
It wouldn't surprise me if the wiper motor and wiring harness are IW-ready, and the only "deletion" is the proper stalk...

My '78 Buick didn't come with a clock. I got one from a junker. I was worried about having to wire it until I pulled the dash panel off, and presto... there was a wiring harness ready and waiting for the clock... It was cheaper to make one harness, not different harnesses for different trims / options.

My 16 didn’t come with it, got one from a Corolla and it was plug and play. The part number is somewhere on here, seems to be a semi-universal part amongst Toyotas.

Toyota will bill you. First you have to buy a license from Toyota to use their intermittent wiper switch. Second you will have to subscribe to a monthly subscription from Toyota, if you want to continue using their intermittent wiper switch.

It’s probably cheaper to include it, as a streamlining measure.

Yep. As I previously posted... Although it could be a supply chain issue... :p

Covid pandemic shutdowns resulted in no more two-speed wiper stalks being made, so they had to provide an intermittent one...

Intermittent wiper delete only applies up to 2020. 2021-2022 all have intermittent.

Congrats. At least you didn’t have to spend some ~$150 bucks like I did for my old 2016 SR that didn’t come with intermittent wiper switch.
