Update: So insurance recently called me and claimed it a total loss due to being unable to find it. It's unfortunate news but I figured it would be the case after so much time went by. So now begins the mission of finding another Taco.. Wish me luck, be safe out there

Good luck finding one, you may have to fly out to find one. Glad the insurance finally called you.

So the Toyota tracking thing is garbage or the thiefs can block it easily?

Has to be one of those two.. Either it's garbage or it can be easily turned off, kind of disappointed in the anti-theft systems in place in these Toyota trucks.

It uses the cell network to broadcast its location. All you need to do is block that signal from going out.

Hopefully they crashed it, and burned up in it.

OP you want better chances of keeping a nice truck and saving on all your insurance (among other things)? Leave the state of FL. I spent 43 years there dealing with all the crap and costs. Much happier in TN.

The MT Pros don’t get all the features, one of which is tracking your truck on the map. Maybe Toyota sees it, but it’s definitely not hooked into the system to send the information back to the owner. Better get a third party service (here we have TAG Tracking) for the peace of mind. People will share their opinions about this and other similar services, but my insurance company claimed 100% of the vehicles stolen that had this installed were recovered within 24 hours. So they’re offering a rebate on the install and insurance premiums as well. At $250CAD (one time fee only), there’s no reason to pass.

No you can’t, manual transmission doesn’t come with this option. Even with the Pro.

Ahhh I didn't know about this, thanks. Is there a brand that's the most reputable? I'm definitely in the market for alarms/deterrents for my new Tacoma whenever I do find one.

Brother, I am sorry for your loss. Hopefully things work out best for you, but my thoughts are you are fighting an uphill battle. Good luck with your fight, and hopefully the insurance company does you right.

    Oh look, another mod....
Oh yeah, that reminds me. I need to buy a bunch of AirTags so I can hide them all over my truck. If/When it ever gets stolen, I can track it that way! Since the Toyota feature is complete trash.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Heavy duty steering club? Not foolproof, but detracts the lazy thieves. I have used one for 35 years on 4 different 4x4s. I am offroad at far remote spots about 30 or more times per year, where I am the only one parked in the bush for miles around. Use it in tne city as well.

What did you pay for the truck? What did the insurance company say it’s worth? And more important, what do trucks like yours sell for on the used car market right now?

Regarding searching for a stolen vehicle via some form of a tracking system; I'm not sure I'd want the vehicle back. Thinking about either:
    1. Being without a vehicle for a while until I get a new one, or
    2. Getting my stolen (and damaged to a certain degree) vehicle back...
I'm thinking Option #1 is much better.

It was a pretty much brand new truck I owed 46K and insurance originally offered 46.5K but I negotiated the fact that I installed OEM + aftermarket parts so they raised the given value to 48.5K.. I had put approximately 2.5K in parts, so I broke even essentially.. A 2022 MT Taco OR 4x4 MGM is going around 45-47K private sale value.
