I got these put on about a month ago and I thought they didn't look like 33s or 32.8 to be specific but I measured them and I'm getting around 31.8s.....am I doing this wrong?

Um you might want to remeasure them a few more times and get a couple friends to help you out

    Sure you didn't buy 265s? ;)

Edit: take a picture of the tire size on the sidewall.

I was a little off on the measurement at first but almost 32s......does a 16x7in rim have anything to do with it?

I just started a thread about this a week or two ago. Basically I asked "why aren't tires as tall as they claim to be?". I got lots of responses but what it came down to is this... Almost all of the tire companies sizes fall short of what the stamp size on the tire reads, and they do it because they can.

If you read through that thread you'll hear some people's thoughts on why but the main conclusion was that "the tire manufactures can get away with it, so they do".

I have 255/85/16 or 33.1" and they measure out to be 32" tall. My previous tire was a 265/75/16 or 30.6" and they measured out to be 29" tall.

Also it depends on the width of your rim. I think most wheel sizes are based off 7" wide wheels.

Yep, that's what I figured. I've been searching google and read up on it.....I did a TON of research before I bought these but never saw any of this, I wish I would have known. I kinda wish I went with 34s but lesson learned.

Stated tire manufacturer diameters are for their stated wheel width as well

Well hopefully new rims will make a difference. Going to go with 8in wide.....my favorite rims only come in 8.5 which is a bummer because I hate the stretched tire look.

As long as it looks good who cares. In your pictures the truck looks great with the new tires.

You have any closeups with the fenders off, how noticeable are the holes in the fenders? I have the same color truck and have often thought about removing the fenders.

the manufacturer dimensions might be with the tire mounted yes, but i don't believe there is any weight on the tire. so maybe this is about right under the weight of the truck? seems wrong in theory but i'm curious if more ppl measure accurately what the results might be.

I'll put one up. It's noticeable but I like it better than the flares. I'd say at about 20 ft or so you're eyes aren't so drawn toward them.....I was trying to think of ways to cover them up. since the paint under that flares is basically new i might fill the holes with liquid steel and color match.
