I have 285/75/16 duratracs on rims with 4.5" backspacing and -12mm offset

I was having some rubbing issues in reverse and steep entries to shopping centers

Here's my $3.00 or cheaper rubbing fix, if you already have zip ties you're good to go!

    Items:

    - extra long (12") zip ties (12 count) from Walmart for $3.08 after tax
    - 10mm socket wrench or Phillips head screw driver

Here is how close my tire was before moving the lining and after removing the small mud flap like thing on the bottom if the bumper.

1.) Unscrew the two bolt screws that hold the inner lining. On the bolt without the washer, there is a black Clip you have to remove to move the lining, and also remove it so you don't lose it.

2.) once you remove the bolts and the plastic clip, there is a bigger hole that you can use to anchor the lining

3.) there is a little metal arm that comes out of the frame, it can be used as an anchor for the zip tie. Thread the zip tie through the whole in the plastic lining and to this metal arm. And pull tight until the plastic doesn't move around

4.) the distance between the tire and inner lining now, no more rubbing!

Not at all, just moves the inner fender lining a little out of the way. Been mudding, in snow, in deep water, stuffed my tires as far as they could and no issues. And easy this is if I wanna work by the fog lights, I undo the zip tie and move the flap aside. Do my work and tie it back.

Sweet! I noticed majority of peeps with 16" wheels never required a CMC.

It has to do with the backspacing and offset. That size rim usually has the correct backspacing and offset to accommodate the tires with the least modification.

If you check my build I think I tell the backspacing/offset that's the best

Great post, I was thinking about only going with 265/70/17 instead of the 285s due to rubbing but if this the only fix that will have to be done in order to make sure that there is no rubbing at full lock or reverse then I think that this is the answer to my questions.
I will also be getting the XD Addicts with -12 offset for 4.5 backspacing...From what I read the lower the back spacing the more the tire will stick out. Woohoo
    Great post, beautiful truck.

If you want to compare sizes from a 16inch rim to a 17inch rim, just google "Tire Size Calculator Tacoma World" (if you dont already know about it), and you can put my tire dimensions in, and the size you're looking at to see how their dimensions compare. I know with the bigger rim, they don't 100% translate with size. But if i remember correctly the same tire would be a 285/70/17 or 285/65/18.

But other than that, I haven't had an issue and love them to death! I don't know what tire you're looking at, but the Duratracs are the best set of tires I've ever put on a vehicle. I was also at discount tire for rotation and balance, and with 10,000 on the tires he said they wore like I only had 7,000-8,000 which surprised me because of how soft they are, but made me an ever happier customer of dura's!!
