Little late to the game, I’ve had my 2017 quicksand Tacoma TRD OR DCSB for over 3 years now and haven’t posted as much as I would have liked about the mods I’ve done to it. I guess it’s better late than never, so going to start now because I’m going to be lifting and adding bigger tires next week. Going to try to keep better track of documenting mods in the future.

Will start this post by going back in time; I don’t have the best pics because a bunch got deleted from my phone so will do the best with what I got.

Pic 1) Stock when I first brought the truck home brand new. Brings back the excitement just seeing this picture!!!

Pic 2) First thing I did was plastidip that ugly chrome grill until I eventually got a knock off TRD Pro grill

Pic 3) Added a Prinsu roof rack, softopper, spider trax 1.25 wheel spacers

Fast forward to present day how the truck sits now...

Pic 4) Removed the soft topper after using it for a couple years. The tint is 20% on the front two, 50% on the windshield, and nothing besides factory tint on the rear windows

pic 5) Test fitting 265 70 17 nitto terra grapplers on TRD pro 4-runner wheels with no lift. (The front is mounted, I just photoshopped the rear tire on.) Liked how it looked over stock but decided I really wanted 285s so went that route instead.

Pic 6-8) Ordered 285 75 16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers which arrived today

So now just waiting on Matte Dark Bronze 16x8 SCS Ray 10s to arrive in the mail (Found then in stock on the Freeman Toyota website. Also ordered a 2” Eibach Pro Truck lift with AAL from Headstrong Off-road. Everything should be getting in sometime soon and getting everything installed next Thursday hopefully. Will post further after that happens! Super excited to get this thing lifted and share with everyone.

SCS Ray 10 16x8 matte dark bronze arrived today. I love how they look, can’t wait to get them on the truck!!! But before I get them on I removed the fake bead lock bolts and spray painted them black.

Turned out super easy. The cardboard that came with the wheels acted as a perfect place to pop the bolts into to make it simple and easy to get a good even coat on the bolt heads. I used a can of krylon flat black that I had left over from another project. Did approximately 4-5 coats of spray. 37B81C82-536D-4468-87FE-6B6B90F7A8B4.jpg 42193FE2-17A8-4774-8490-48685EC12CB0.jpg

Ended up putting another couple layers Of spray paint on the fake bead lock bolts. Probably 6ish total coats. The first couple bolts I put back on the wheel the paint chipped off the bolt head (I realized I was over tightening the bolts) The rest of the bolts I did not tighten them down so much and the paint did not chip. I just finger snugged them down and then put the slightest amount of extra pressure with the socket on a screw driver attachment..(just a tiny bit further than finger tight, tried to get an exact torque spec but couldn’t find my small torque wrench) I think it will be plenty tight how I did it, as they were not on very tight when I removed them... If I were to do it again maybe I would try a tougher paint, like undercoating on a couple of the bolts to see how that held up. Still Very happy with how this turned out though. Just had to re spray a couple of the bolts I messed up at the beginning.

Spare tire arrived 285 75 16 Attura Trail Blade AT. Hopefully will fit on the stock spare wheel and fit in the stock under bed Location. Went with this tire as opposed to a spare ridge grappler because this tire was less than half the price, around $110 delivered from Walmart. Also the overall diameter and width were slightly smaller than the Ridge Grappler, which I hope will give it a better shot of fitting under the truck!

I've looked at your post and didn't see any updates after installing the new suspension. Did you have any trimming to do? Also since I'm not sure if you mentioned it, are you still running the wheel spacers?
