So I decided to be a nice guy and volunteer to be the designated driver last night...

I parked it on the street (probably further to the curb then most of the other cars just so I could protect it). and I come back and find this... Does anyone know how much damage I'm looking at? I was thinking since I had to get a new tail light I might as well get the LED style that 2009+ have.

 5 days old! That truly sucks! I'll estimate $2500 in damages...

Your insurance company may require a police report.

Yea it was a hit and run... I'm probably going to file a police report after I take it to my friends house for him to look at (mechanic). $900 for a bumper though?? Would I be better off just getting an aftermarket bumper that won't dent as easily as the SR5 chrome bumper?

Sucks man. There are people always wanting to sell their bumpers for a lot less than the dealers. If you just want to replace find someone local to buy it off, unless you want to go the off road route.

Make sure you have the body shop use OEM parts. Demand it from the insurance company. OEM have proper amounts of corrosion inhibitors. And have the shop use a weldable primer. I had my 03 ford ranger done 3 months after i bought it. The seams started rotting out around the spot welds about 3 yrs after I had it done. Too bad its not my problem anymore. Toyota owns it he he he.

the bumper is the big cost, the rest should be easy enough to fix. looks like one dent needs to be knocked out, and then sanding and painting. i'll go 1500

Agree the fender does not look that bad. Mostly cosmetic.

Doesn't look too awful now -- he was able to buff out pretty much all the scratches (except some chips in paint by the tail light). There' also a small dent on the body that I'll have to get bumped out. Overall It's not looking so bad, I'll probably drive with that bumper for a while until I can afford/find a used one somewhere. Anyone have any suggestions for the tail lights though? I like the look of the 2010's but don't want to pay out my ass for them..

toyota brand hitch and uhaul wiring harness, fog lamps on anytime, bed lamps, map lights on with dome, day time running lamps, remove secondary air filter, painted bumper grill, Double Din touch screen stereo, Sockmonkey custom SR5 decal, door & seatbelt bells disabled, painted engine cover, installed compass/temperature overhead console, failed mod: passenger side auto down window switches, weathertech front mats, RedLine hood struts, Cheap Beep piezo buzzer locking beep, 5100s in the front set at 2.5, 5100s in the rear, AAL, hitch safe, revenge fab sliders, bed bar, prerunner light, cb wired
that looks great! Get that tail lamp replaced - in some states even having it cracked is a fine. Craigslist OR better yet - put up a WTB ad in the For Sale section.

    good luck!

900 was for mine, that was with labor and had to get my hitch repainted. so prob less than that for you. but if you have the money yes buying a aftermarket from Kevin, Armor Tech (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/armor-tech-offroad/42419-armor-tech-offroad-product-line.html) would be a smart route.

Check the bumper for corrosion... toyota is replacing bumpers with rust, if yours has it maybe you can get a free new one?
