Not that I need to anymore on this thread, but DIITO! That's totally me too. It almost seems as if it's the driver-rear corner that's bouncing more than the other side.(which is also my buggered up wheel)

Someone mentioned one of their wheels was bent....I would fix that first, then see if there are any more vibes.

I noticed that my tires wear on the inside a little more than the rest,
and my rims DO NOT hold the weights that discount tire puts on them, 2 days after they balance them I hear the wieghts pinging off my truck going down the highway.
I am gonna rebalance the tires, and put spacers on my carrier bearing and see if that works

hey guys, just checking in. i went today and swapped out the nexens with some michleins, and guess what? the shake is still there. the guys at the tire store inspected the michleins and the wheels and reported that neither one was bent/warped/out-of-round. I still believe that my carrier bearing is bad, due to the 1/2'" of play in it. so i just ordered a new one that will be here saturday. if this does not fix it, i got some lefter ordinance that I will put to good use . hardshelltaco, i am not sure if you were talking to me, but i just went with some gabriels, front and rear. since i do no off-roading, i dont need anything fancy. b.t.w., i do the maglite mod today, with the aid of some quick fist clamps, looks superbad!

Okay, I know I’m new here, but I had something like this on my 01 PreRunner, and just recently on the wife’s 97 4Runner. It was an unexplainable vibration that seemed to come from nowhere, couldn’t feel it in the brake pedal, and didn’t really show in the steering wheel either. It only seemed to show up at highway speeds, and braking from down from them. For me in both cases, it turned out to be the E-brake not releasing on one side.

Just climbed under the truck, moved the rubber boot out of the way where the E-brake cable gets to the brakes, spray lavishly with penetrating oil, beat the heck out of the lever until it moves freely, and fixed.

Not sure this is the problem for the OP, but some of the other post sounded very much like this.

    Hope it helps

were your vehicles manual shifts? I have an auto and never use my e-brake, or can it do it regardless?

    getting there....
i'd still do it, and its a good idea to engage the parking brake every so often....makes sure everything is in working order....keeps it from rusting and locking up potentially.

It really shouldn’t matter if it was auto or standard. The E-brake is an independent system. But both were autos.

I guess I would have to ask how long you have had your vehicle? I didn’t discover the wife’s 4runner problem until I drove it. She never “felt” it, even though it felt like the thing was going to shake apart like a bad caravel ride! It only takes one time of applying the E-brake for this to happen. And it will only be worse if it hasn’t been used for a long time.

Either way, it’s very easy to check and fix.

Has anybody with the conditions checked their u-joints? Some of your symptoms are indicative of a bad u-joint.

how hard of a beaten are we talking about, and in which direction? mine moves, but not to freely, you have to give it a tad bit motivation.
