It went from vinegar, to mildew, to wet dog fart.

did you check the flap that closes the outside air? I think it has a foam pad on it to. Not sure if it's a fliter or just padding.

I did take a look at that. No anomalies.

    I'm honestly stumped.

Can you smell it through the vents on windshield cowl?

Do you ever run the AC with any of the vents on the dash closed? Sometimes if you have the vents closed condensation builds up on the ducts, gets the insulation wet.

    I'm stumped to man.

I couldn't smell anything from the top where the cowl was. The filter smelled musty, but not nearly the fart smell.

I've started only running regular AC (not on recirc) and on the feet/vents setting.

With the truck off, if you smell the dash vents, can you smell it?

This might be the same problem I am having. It only happens right after the A/C is turned off??

Sometimes I get whiffs of it with the AC off, but I can't smell it from the vents themselves.

You sure someone didn't do the Rear Seat Stain Mod with something out of the ordinary?

Im gonna go ahead and say that you need to clean your evaporator core. I bet that has all kinds of fun funky stuff growing on it. I make it a point to run fresh air thru it after I run the A/C to make sure it dries out before I shut my truck down. That way it doesn't get funky.

I actually did check everywhere after I noticed a foul smell for the first time. I have Carhartt seat covers so I removed and washed them and made sure nothing was under them. No signs of rear seat stain mod.

I do not have to remove the dash and my will to live to fix that. Right?

What the hell, haha. I wonder if someone did that on purpose.

My AC used to smell like vinegar though, then mildew, now fart. I wonder what's next on the evolution.

Didn't think about the evaporator, but if you filled system with that cleaning foam I would think it would have reached the evaporator. You could drill a small hole in the box and use an endoscope or borescope to see if the evaporator is gunked up (before tearing your dash apart) and just plug the hole with a rubber plug?

I don't know if I'm that brave, haha. I'll try some more products and see.

    Thanks
