    Went from this 2004 2.7 SR5 4x4 5speed manual Access Cab

To this 2018 3.5 TRD Offroad 4X4 6 speed auto Access Cab

    Pros:
    -more power!
    -bitchin suspension
    -rear suicide doors

    Cons:
-automatic transmission (thanks Toyota for only offering the manual in the quad cab TRD OR)
-plastic "composite" bed (its growing on me)
-the tailgate can be stolen in less than 10 seconds (WTF!)

That back seat is the same cramped space it's always been so I still don't have to drive other MF'ers around, which is awesome!

The '04 never had issues with 180K, but I've made an appointment to the local dealer today for the '18 due to low transmission fluid symptoms (delayed shifting, jerking,) and rear differential whine/NVH issue. I have to wait 7 whole days until the appointment but I'll follow up if theres interest. Shouldn't have these issues at 2,000 miles but since the dealer is being cool so far, I'll find my zen place and see how it goes.

I dig this new rig, hope to get past the current issues and hedge against future problems. Thanks TW for the great info on the 3rd gen! Cheers!

    Welcome!

Any more pics/specs of first gen? Looked nice. Should’ve kept it! I’m biased though. :p

3rd gen should be a good truck once all the kinks are worked out!
