    As an update to this...
Apple released iOS 9 beta software, I decided to install and give it a shot for some of the new features(also incorporates some of the things I like about Android). Cool software but a little buggy here and there so hopefully they get it all sorted out before full release (september?). Sent them a half dozen error reports through the 3 days I had the iOS on my phone..... heres where it gets interesting.

My phone was still having connection issues on calls, sending and receiving texts, etc. Go down to the Apple store on Lunch on saturday (it's 20 minutes from my shop on the south edge of Reno, not central at all so its a hassle to drive down there) and come to find out they had a 4 HOUR wait. Yes, 4 HOURS to be able to have someone look at my phone. Set up an appointment for later that evening and go back for my appointment.

Guy I get is super friendly and helpful, understands my issue and is sympathetic. Now he goes to try and run their diagnostics software through his iPad or whatever he was using and it wont connect to my phone. He asks me to hold on a minute, goes in back and talks to someone else, then comes back and says theres nothing he can do. Nothing. Because I updated to the iOS 9 software and their diagnostics system is not updated to work with it. I would have to revert my phone back to iOS 8.4, and do a FULL wipe on my phone in the process in order to do so. Great. Further, I would need to use the phone for at least a few days to a week in order for the system to track the connection issues and dropped/missed calls issues I'm having, then once again return to the store for them to check out my phone. Awesome.

So I wasted an hour and a half of my day, then had to fully wipe my phone (because the backups that were saved would try to keep/reinstall iOS 9 if I tried to use them) and start fresh. Busy schedule, shitty store location, and out of town this weekend means I've got to deal with the shitty phone issues for 2 full weeks... for them to most likely run their diagnostics software and tell me there is no issue with the device. :frusty:

Had iPhones for years really liked them. But I can't remember which update it was but updated my 4S to whichever iOS it was and the phone went to shit. Battery would die in a couple of hours, phone lagged for the simplest things dialing a phone number, sending a text. Went to apple to get it looked at it was out of waranty by 2 weeks. went to my wireless provider same deal no waranty.

Tried to use the phone for another month or so, and just couldn't it was my business phone so couldn't have a phone i couldn't dial a number on. So went in and got a HTC loving it so far its almost 2 years old now and no issues so far.... lets wait and see.

My Sony Z3 is great. Android convert right here. I run a iPhone 5S from work since the company policy only supports apple devices. The phone has, at best, 4 hour battery life after 1 year of use and the finger print scanner is toast. I use the mobile internet from it for work and it's glitchy. I'm constantly dropping the company VPN with the iPhone which my Sony handles flawlessly and I used to have no issues with the mobile access point before the company took those away to save $10 because of all the iPhones we have to pay to replace.

BTW did you know when you get a "new" iPhone on warranty you are actually getting a refurbished phone. So even if Apple decides to warranty your phone at the Genius Bar, which is an oxymoron at best, you aren't getting a new phone. You're getting a phone someone else fucked up and they tried to repair.

Apple is s POS company. I used to own a couple of iMacs, iPhones, and I even used AirPlay for a while. Never again. The only thing I have left Apple in the house is the wifes phone, because she's locked into the iTunes DRM because she buys movies from there, and the Apple TV because of the same reason.

That brings up another Apple ripoff. So my sony came with 16 GB, much like the base model iPhone, and I ate that up within about 2 weeks. Go to the local Walmart and spend 30 bucks and all of a sudden my Sony has 80 GB of memory. Sweet. We just bought the wife a new iPhone. Because of her videos, which she watches while taking care of our 3 month old so the kid isn't always watching TV with her, we had to go up to the 64 GB, which cost $500 on contract! My 80 GB waterproof Sony phone, which does everything a 6 does minus the glitchy fingerprint reader, was $99 on contract and $220 with a no hassle replacement warranty where Telus hands me a new phone if I think there is anything wrong with my Z3. WHAT A RIPOFF.

    Okay, rant over lol.

If you have an old IPhone it won't handle newer software, so don't update. I keep a 4 around as a backup... Still running IOS6 on it and it works well... a bit slower but not terrible.
It's like running windows 8 on a computer from the 90's... Just not gonna work

Yeah the problem was my iPhone wasn't that old. So for it not to handle the update the Apple "geniuses" felt it needed pissed me off.
Now my phone has a permanent home in the glove box of my truck endlessly on bluetooth to my stereo.

Yep, completely understand that. Thats what my issue is.... My new iphone I originally bought blew the speakers so they replaced it with one of the refurbs. Now the Refurb is 10x more problems than my old phone. I would litterally take my old one back with blown speakers just to not have to deal with all the shit that is wrong with this 'good as new' refurb replacement phone they gave me, that "performs to manufacturer specs" even though it doesnt perform correctly.

I had Apple since IPhones came out. Switched when the 4s came out. I had three note 1's in a year, three note 2's 1 of which caught on fire while charging, two note 3's, and finally, two note 4's. The note 4's were the straw. They both erased randomly. And not only did they erase, they corrupted the memory card as well. And if you're not on the cloud you have no back up for android. So I lost everything. Every picture, every file, everything.

Went back to Apple and got the iPhone 6 plus. Have not a single issue. Yes I liked some things about android better. But the reliability is there and has been for me. As well as as the fact that everything is backed up to the cloud as well as iTunes via wifi when I walk in my door.

As far as the music. I've never bought music from iTunes and I have over 60 gigs on my phone.

I have an iMac from 2006 that is still my main desktop. The only thing that I upgraded was the ram and the hard drive. After a couple years, 500gb and 2gb of ram wasn't cutting it. Both were easy to do and barely harder than would have been with a conventional tower. This was my computer all through college, I was able to run both windows and mac on it, and never had a single issue in the last nine years. Literally, not one single issue, no lock up, no virus, no clicking hard drive, no corrupted files, nothing. Did my iMac cost signifigantly more than a comparable name brand PC tower, you bet it did. It has also lasted longer and worked better the whole time.

Unless you are using a PC for gaming there is really no need to "upgrade" most of your computer, depending on how long you plan to keep it. Most of the people who are buying something for gaming (or anything else that might require higher end specs) are in the build-it-yourself crowd. They aren't the same people buying apple's or dell's or hp's. If you want something that will be dead reliable, and is fine for any kind of web browsing, word processing, video or image editing, then get a mac and don't worry, or spend less money up front for an inferior product that won't last and looks like garbage.

Breaking news.... All companies have phones that crap out unexpectedly. For 99% of people, whichever phone they choose will work perfectly fine for what they want to do.

For every crappy android review, theres a crappy iPhone review.

Your Apple tower that cost you probably $2.5K plus has nothing special about it's hardware. It's the same as any other PC. Everything is X86-64 based now. You can even make you own hackintosh now with ten minutes of internet research. The Mac Pro is made in a factory in China with a suicide rate that will make your head spin with cheap ass components, just like a Dell. The only thing special about Apple is the OS. Computers, cell phones, whatever, it's all the same hardware or worse than their competitors but they charge twice as much. That's what sucks about Apple. I went through a couple of iMacs frying there boards before I gave up and went back to building my own PC's. Mac's have hardware failure rates right around the same as PC. Higher than custom built quality windows machines.

99% of the time when someone kills a windows machine it's because they surf stupid or open every single email attachment no matter how dumb it looks. The PC I built in 2009 is still running at my in laws house as there main computer lol. Only thing upgraded was Windows to 8.1 from Windows 7 when I gave it to them. The only time it nearly died was because my father in law admitted he downloaded a frick ton of porn the night before . I did a quick digital cleaning with some recovery software and the PC was purring like 2009 all over again.

BTW the new line of Mac Pro towers looks like ass. It's just a black cylinder. Lazy. For $2.5K I can build a rig that can render 4K no sweat. The Mac Pro at that price will just spin the colour wheel all day long trying to do that. For under $1K I can build the same machine as a Mac Pro.
