My attempt @ a 2 to 3 drop ... ... more or less...

LMAO well it was bound to happen, but this thread started off as a simple drop, now it's become a bag thread. going to be a while till I do end up bagging it fully but right now I am in the works of getting the air management complete. Been thinking of how to get it under the truck bed by the rear bumper so I can hide it. And yes avoiding as MUCH as possible of cutting. Want to resell this so I can get a bike and then start that off as a new project.

 

lol actually not really. I already have the back bagged, and all I need to do is get the front done. As for the management I am panning out on how to hide it under the bed, haven't figured out how to get the compressors in but this is pretty much the gist of how the tanks will be (attached)

 

hoping to fit in one 0.5 gal. and one 2 gallon tank (or maybe just a 2 gallon with one flow control for the back - not letting them go past 80/85 psi). not going crazy on this one. After that I still have to figure out how to route the valves, but once I get the compressors, tanks and valves on and hidden, I'll be able to handle the rest fine.

Did you use the 6.5" measured cut as your final ride height for the stock coil springs?
That is 1/2 from what you wrote, correct?
How much drop did you achieve cutting the coil spring?

Then you got 1" with the spindle drop too?? for a total of...???

No, I only used that for the complete turn measurement. I didn't want to try and eye ball where half was, it looked odd each time I tried. So I took a string, then went around the top loop till it reached to where the top cut is on the spring. Put the string straight and measured with a regular ruler. You can do this kind of thing to measure O.D. (outer diameter) of things.
Yes, but I apologize for not mentioning what I did to get the half on the spring. BUT what I found out when I cut it off, it was not enough to lower the front. I basically just cut off the dead spring. To get a FULL drop, you can cut ONE whole turn - line your cut to where the very tip of the top cut is and CHOP! I used an angle grinder, which DID not take me too long to cut.

I had the spacer kit prior to the cutting, but I think I have about 2" or so drop (originally 30 7/8", dropped to 28 3/8"). I added in 1/8" washers to the spacer kit (drops it to 1.25"). For now I am going to let the springs settle to see how much I get (will take me a while until I get to bag the front). I am starting to see a little lean, but at the end of the year I"m going to switch the springs from one side to the other to balance it all out ... in theory.

 

Curious... which side us the lean? What's the height diff?

Wondering if I could theoretically trim less coil on that spring to compensate for it.

What do ya think? How much?

 

One more thing ...did you have to use the strut top machined 7075 spacer to compensate for the extra shaft space post coil cut? XRunner struts might solve that ...true?

 

the lean is on the drivers side but it's mainly due to what is on that side (battery along with the gas tank). it's normal, with chevy's you get the same thing. The height difference is about 1" or so.

Not really, if you did that it wouldn't be level.

 

no I still have the stock strut, I am using a pair of OE coils that I bought online and to cut, kept the pair of OE springs that I had on the truck already as a back up if the cutting went wrong. I guess, but to me it's not much, I can just swap them and I think I can last till I get the front bagged.

nah, I lost it when I was out one night. No worries though I memorized my license #. Going to the DMV sometime today or Mon. to fill out the form and get a new one sent in.

 

figured out how to get in one of the back seats *phew!!!!!!!!!!!!! so now I can have someone in the back if I need to (mostly it's my lil nephew when I have to bring him along with me and another person - moms, etc.). For now it's all good, BUT after hearing it more, I do need to deaden the entire cab and doors more (need about 2/3 layers and I should be good as far as rattling/ugly bass). Planning out my air management little by little (snapping shots here and there so I can PS the parts where I would like them). Also have to make a template of the back where the spare tire is, want to use as much as of the space as I can for the system.

Debating on adding a grade 8 nut to hopefully get in a 1.75" front drop for the hell of it. Camber is fine ... for now, but don't want to get to the point where I'm buying tire after tire all the time.

 

18x9.5 have to figure out the tire size but at most I'm going to be stretching the tires.

 

did a little homework and found out that the OE Murano rims are @ 7.5" wide. XR rims are @ 8" wide. Looking at the fenders with the Muranos on, it looks to be that the fenders are enough for a 7.5" wide rim to tuck nicely, where as an 8" wide rim, you will need to do some trimming/fender rolling to get the rim and tire to tuck.

I decided to go with a 8.5" wide rim with either 205/40/18 or 215/40/18 tires for that JDM style stretch. It might not be that noticeable, but if I put in a 9.5" wide rim ... it will stick out and look VERY disgusting imo. At most I "MIGHT" go with a 9" wide rim, have to find a spot that will let me put an 8.5" and 9" wide rim on my truck for a reference to see how it looks overall.

 

did a mock fit of the compressor in the engine bay ... ... bow to get it all plumbed up and ready for install. I am going to repaint the compressor all black and add in some bushings so that it will be ... somewhat quiet.

figure I'll run a line all the way to the back for the air tank and valves. this way it will be easier to hide everything.

 

got some good news, found where to get the bolt!!!! it runs @ about $6.30 something, so just say $7 ea.
