My attempt @ a 2 to 3 drop ... ... more or less...

as far as I know (as far as I got actually), the bolts are called flange bolts. the size is 5/8" but I am unsure of the threading - only thing that was stopping me. It gets VERY detailed after the sizing and such. I may have time this week to go searching since I have the spacer kit already in and the OE spindle bolts out. Other than that, it's pretty much easy to obtain.

 

UGH!!! static drops and rubber bands really depend on how low you are as well as the wheel well space.

 

see but you can't really go much lower with these size tires lmao. i was scraping, everywhere. EVERYWHERE! lol i got hella stuck a couple times too. and i only had these rims on for a couple days lmao.

 

LMAO that's when you KNOW it's time to bag it! Which is why I am only going for the 2.25 to 3.25/3.5 drop. Although I am going simple this time ... a first for me. Strut bags up front, followed by a simple 3 link bags behind and under axle in the back. building something my mom can put up with when I pick her up from work (previous ones I was running about 300/400 psi constantly lol ).

g/l hope you have a better exp. than I did when I went to the closest one to me in CA. Most likely they will bust out with the usual measuring tools (behind the desk), but if the clerk really knows what they are doing will at least hook it up with some info.

as for pictures, don't have many. have to look around for them, wish I could keep a decent build log but I'm mainly the only one doing all the work, sucks trying to take shots ... also I'm somewhat of an impatient person when it comes to builds, I always want to get things done to see how it looks (not just a theory in my head).

Alright, so I finally had some time and checked out all your links in here and read everything. You got so close to finding the right size bolt, I can't believe you gave up and bought the kit! GAhhhh! ha. So if I read everything right it seems that they are an M16 fine thread with a 1.5 pitch and one side is longer than the other (I know you said the measurements, I just forgot). Is that basically it?

 

LMAO I KNOW, I just couldn't stand it (wasn't much either, so that was a plus ). BUT I am not giving up the search for the bolt. Something like that. When I went to the Fastenal place, I had to take off the bolt from the spindle (wasn't the best idea but was all I could do at the time, there's not really anyone to help me on my builds) and showed it to the clerk behind the desk. He immediately told me it was a flange bolt BUT had to use that bolt measuring thing to find out the size, which was 5/8" or the same size as a M16 bolt. Worse off, they told me they were more of an industrial shop, so they couldn't take like 4 bolts out of the bag or even open up a bag for that matter. I had to buy the whole bag .

The sizing is the tricky part as well as the threading. I don't think I was measuring the bolt correctly, I was doing a search on flange bolts and none of them were that long. Some I found on eBay were measured oddly, I lost the picture of the flange bolt I had found on eBay that said it was like 4 7/8" or something long, yet when it was placed next to a tape measure, it read no where near that length, so I'm not quite sure where they got the measurement from. As for the threading, I know for sure it's a fine threading, but for the actual threading ... I'm lost on that one. Hell if you put me in a room where there's a bunch of the bolts I'd end up trying each until I found the right one. I may have the day off tomorrow (it's one of those "up in the air things") but if I do I will be going to the nearest auto parts store to find out info on the bolt in general and info on the bolts I am using as well (why they fit and ARE NOT flange bolts).

lol happens, just have to keep at it. one thing I have learned about builds, they come and go but it's only WHEN you REALLY feel it's time to let it go ... or it gets repo'd As of now I'm just saving up here and there so I can get the parts I really need (trying to make me a reusable cabin filter), then more int. work and then back to working on the suspension again.

 

I know of a few place near where I live that specialize in hardware, I might have to try and stop by to see if they can give me any information. I'll probably do what you said you did and just take the bolt off, but on from each side and show them. I will definitely tell you if I find out anything haha. I just don't want to spend $80 on it when I know I could do it for $20 in parts. So I'll keep searching around. I wonder if anyone ever pm'd inthablood to see if he knew?

 

lol he's been asked MANY times about the bolt. When I asked, he said he sold it and couldn't remember the size. I would say almost $30 in parts, the 5/8" bolts might run you about $7/$8 each, the rest is easy to come by.

nope, only 1" up front and 2.25/.5" rear. my tires are 225/50/18. What size tires were you using?

 

I'm gonna keep the bumper the same matte color. as far as I know I'm the ONLY one with a dropped taco out in the 626 (there was another that I saw, but haven't seen in a very long time, I think it had 20's on it ... imo, looked too "generic" of a build).

could be, from what I was told though, the SS springs will only give the 5 lug a 1.25" drop (brand new) due to the XR engine's size (which unfortunately it was geared to ). You might not be @ 2", you might have a little over 1.5" maybe from breaking them in.

did up the numbers, 255/45's are about 1" larger. I kind of find that odd. From what I was told on how tires are numbered, the first is the width, second is the height, and third is the size. So in my head ... just looking at the numbers I would think I was 1" larger than you, me having the 50, not 45. ... weird

 

found where I put this picture - next is to plan out front drop.

- Relocated UCA's (move up 1" from OE placement)
- Cut OE springs (0.25 to 0.5 turn for 1"/close to 1" drop)

* attached picture is of actual mod Inthablood had to do to correct camber (he was bagged up front, but none the less this should remedy the camber issue).
