I actually installed most of this a couple of weeks ago, but wanted to clean up the wiring before I posted any pics. So, I finally got off my lazy ass and did it, so here are pics of my audio system install.

I bought the box from Marv. Let me just say that he does amazing work! Just the quality and attention to detail that he puts in to his work is apparent... It was a shame to cover it with carpet... But, here you go:

    Box before carpet

    Just look at the quality!!

Before running all the new wiring, I put Damplifier Pro in all four doors (exterior and interior skin) and put Luxury Liner Pro inside the door. But, apparently I didn't get any pictures of that . So, on to running all new speaker wiring.

    After removing the door panels
    IMG_0474_b8b06bb5d45dce9be415b45bacdb49228667d65a.jpg

Removed the plastic stuff and those speaker excuses that Toyota put in (WOW, what crap!)

Now, this is what it looked like after I installed the amps and cross overs, but before cleanup...

And now, with the seats put back in
    IMG_0496_33ad848722346e544910551bb6fe472cb287478d.jpg

A couple of things I still need to do to consider it "finished" is
    1. Tune the system. Doesn't sound as good as I know it can, but I'm working with Marv on that one.
    2. I plan to take the plastic bins that were removed, cut out the middle and carpet it so that it can snap back in to place, around the box. It will give it a much more finished look. Was gonna do that today, just ran out of time.

The fronts and rears sound great, but the bass is a little muddy sometimes. But I think Marv and I can fix that with gain adjustment.

It does look very nice. I personally like the exposed wiring on the amp section.

Thanks. I thought about enclosing the amps, maybe even some sort of plexiglass show-off cover or something, but I didn't want to worry about ventillation and all that stuff. Plus, it's behind the seat. So, it's good enough for me... :)

Plexiglass is for posers. Haha, J/K. It is just really easy to make plexi look really cheesy. You did I good job as is.

Are the stock speakers really just that terrible? Would I be spending too much to get the JBL option/upgrade?

Well, the stock speakers sound decent (considering how cheap they are) but you would be amazed at just how flimsy they are!

I don't know much about the JBL option, but you can get better quality, aftermarket, cheaper.
