I have noticed my bed will wiggle a little bit when going over bumps, and it seems to be loose. Its gotten worse and I need to fix whatever is going on under there.

Where are the bolts at on a 99ext cab at? I cant find them lol I cant physically get the bed to shake while the truck is parked so I dont think its like about to fall or anything, it just very lightly shakes and wiggles when I hit bumps or go offroad and it didnt do that before.

Is it normal for bolts to come loose over time or do you think that something could be broken/rusted.

    Thanks guys

depends how badit is but this is something called bed shake i think. its normal, unless you just startedin that case its getting worse. find a set of body lift install instructions for your truck, that will help you findthe bolts. also check the bushingthey might be bad.

Ok Ill try to find some body lift instructions. It has done it a little bit the entire time owning the truck, and my old Chevy did it also so I think thats just normal shake. But it seems to be noticeably worse and I want to make sure something is broken. It probably is just bolts I need to tighten down. Ill try to find the layout for the bolts and see if I cant get them tightened down.

    Bushing????

your bed has 6 bolts holding it on. They are all accessible from under the truck. The bolts go up through the frame mounts and into the cross bracing of the bed. There are 2 at the front, 2 right at the axle area and 2 in the rear... basically 3 down each side. I just took my bed off, and I can't remember for sure.. but the bolts are either 14mm or 17mm heads. There are no bushings on mine, and I don't see any way there could be some because then the bed and cab body lines would not match up. The metal cross brace of the bed sits right against the frame.

Get you a 1/2" ratchet, 12" extension, and a socket.

If you can't get any movement from the bed by hand... I would look under it at the cross bracings and see if they are rusted.

My truck has cab bushings, but not bed. and the bed - cab body lines match. I will have to look at some others, maybe I am wrong, but I don't see how their could be bushing unless they are 1/16" thick or less.

This thread is fairly old, it ended up being the bolts. I had checked them once but apparantly they have to be Mr. T Rambo tight to hold the bed down good. :D

And I keep telling your mother to loose weight I swear shes gonna be the death of my truck!
