Having some issues and so far my mechanic hasn't been able to diagnose as it is not tripping the scanner and is an intermittent problem

2004 tacoma prerunner v6 - 180k miles - Transmission cooler, New O2 sensor after lean code 3 weeks ago. Just towed it in extreme conditions and worked flawlessly with zero issues. Mechanic looked at transm. fluid and slightly off colored but not alarmed.

When cold it takes a bit longer for it to heat up but now suffering with intermittent rpm drop and power drops both from a stop or coasting on the highway at speed. Mechanic could not pinpoint with scanner while driving and it is hard to replicate.

Has anyone ever experienced this? I've taken amazing care of this truck and want it to get more miles! I'm grateful for any advice!

Sounds like an issue I have occasionally also. For my truck it's simply a dirty TPS. Cycle your throttle 50 times or so, while the truck is off course, and it should clean itself.

Thank you all! I'm still having a funny issue after replacing the TPS with a new one. I disconnected the battery and then practiced the pedal back and forth with it off and then the key in and when I start it just Reapeatedly revs up and down to almost 2500 rpm. I suppose I can put the old one back in but has anyone experienced this? 2004 tacoma v6 limited.
