Nice truck. Seems like you're sticking in your budget and intended usage. If you get the off-road bug, depending on the type of off-road driving, there's many ways you can go with suspension, tires, etc. You came to the right place!

    Again, pretty truck and welcome!

No worries. I appreciate all opinions, positive or negative. I’m going to treat the truck well, and hope it does the same for me.

That's a good idea. Start a build thread and track the little things you do to improve your Tacoma. Like a truck diary lol. It'll help you with figuring out what needs to be done and what should be improved. Mine helped when I realised I complained a lot about smashing my rear bumper all the time, so I sprung for a cool-guy high clearance bumper. Stuff like that.

There's another guy that goes by Oldie2007 who is documenting his restoration to bring it to better than stock, yet slightly more capable. Lots of cool builds and products put there. Enjoy your time here!

Stoked for you man. That's a really nice truck and something to be proud of indeed. Should be able to enjoy that one for a LOOOOONG time to come.

Reminds me a lot of my first 4x4 when I was your age; before Tacomas were invented and probably before your parents knew each other. hahahah.

My point was that kind of carnage is from incorrect suspension setup. The coil bucket failure is from an incorrect bump setup and the uca damage is from incorrectly limited travel which can happen with any setup.

My reason for asking about the OP's setup is because whether the spacer is inside the strut or on top of the assembly makes a difference. Correct me if I'm wrong but placing the spacer on top of the strut will cause the shock to bottom out earlier and may benefit from a taller or shimmed oem bump stop

Your theory is correct. I would also like to see how much of a spacer is bolted up to the coil.

I had a spacer lift and they definitely do their job. My struts went bad after a couple of years but it could be coincidental that the suspension brand was bad as the rear shocks were completely done as well. I could literally compress the driver side strut with my own hands kind of bad. But it really depends what you do with it, I don't go offroading too often and occasionally flexed on some trails but it wasn't anything major. You'll be fine!

Congrats Charlie, truck looks great . I would recommend a front bumpstop spacer from wheelers off road to prevent the shocks from bottoming out. Also installed a 3 inch 1C3D7117-C8D3-4F7F-8602-0C8731289FD5.jpg lift recently.
