    I think a lot of the perception of it being under powered it the presence of additional gears in the transmission (auto), used to keep the engine rev'ing higher and running cleaner under load, to meet emissions requirements. I don't believe this engine is under powered, or at least not that I can determine driving my truck, but rather computer controlled to run at high rpm to meet emissions standards. I'm happy with the power my truck makes, even if it does end up shifting more than I'd like.
