First off, No haters allowed. Advice and suggestions welcome, but no haters.

Well, I started out my driving career with this, a 1998 Nissan Frontier. 2.4l 4cyl, 5 on the floor. 25 mpg, and I loved it. Only 60k miles

But shortly after I got my first job and before my 18th birthday, this happened. Rear ended a Ford Expedition doing 35mph. Nissan gone, $900 worth of damage done to the Ford.

So after looking for a few weeks, I found a 1999 Toyota Tacoma on Craigslist. V6 auto, Prerunner, 147k miles, $5900 bucks is what I stole it for, and took this when it was delivered
    a911be09-ef97-41b8-948e-069fa3a57645_zps_01c675e9340de84108f35f5d55971adfdcca904a.jpg

Then a few weeks later, while doing some research on the truck, I found TacomaWorld. Made an account and Oh boy, it was off. The mod bug had bitten lol

First real mod was putting in the stereo I had just put in my Nissan before I wrecked it. 2 new speakers as well
    IMG_04901_zpsd44bc0f6_e368c363db54c78c49542633f8b0e18206db97e5.jpg

I also transplanted my CB radio and PA speaker, the one that made it through the wreck

Next mod was a small sub unit, and HID kit. Used to have 6000k, now have 5000k

I then decided I didnt have enough light, and put 4 LED spot lights on the front, and 2 floods on the back. The 4 on the front are hooked to my high beams

I also added this :D. Its a video and I dont know how to add it lol

I then decided I didnt like the halogen parking lights next to the HIDs, so I decided to install some LEDs, in the interior as well.

I didnt like the stock small steelies, and my tires were worn, so I found some optional alloy 15s on CG with 31x10.5x15s on them
    IMG_04791_zps1eccda91_854badd5c98e6bd02c38afac75f021c1aa6fca70.jpg
But the tires were bad, so I rode them(even did a 200 mile highway trip )till I could get some of these babies, and wrapped my new rims in them

Somewhere early on I put this on. Very useful for all my tools, recovery gear, and a mount for my whip

I got my hands on a wrecked 2003 Tacoma's tailights, and intalled them for the added look and brightness. If I had more money, I would have every power train part out of the V6 TRD manual 4x4, but this is a 19 yr olds build haha
    IMG_04741_zpsa94cd114_3fdde03cf219610241a99894ff7feb1637d392f2.jpg
    IMG_04731_zps6eb181f5_b9f351dcc88d5ca874abf07fe7bca66eaca6b122.jpg

And somewhere in between, I have been catching up on maintenance(belts, tires, plugs, coils and leads, pads and rotors)
This popped up recently and keeps coming back. Still fighting it. P0420 emissions code, so nothing bad

So that's about it for my budget build. Near future plans are I have a Detroit Trutrac to install, and a small lift. In the future I would like a 4x4 swap with lockers, and a new paint job. Thanks for looking and I look forward to some comments. Ill get some day pics of the truck up soon

Here she is! Took a little picture of her flexing today

Love the truck so far! My suggestion: You should try to bring the shine back out of the paint. My truck was in that kinda shape when I bought it, I used a shitload of rubbing compound and wax cause I have OCD

I know! It was a bad OEM paint for this color. Single stage with no clear coat. I see it every truck this color looks like mine, some worse then mine. If you look in the first flexing pic, you can see its a little darker then rest of the truck right above the tail light. A guy I know who used to detail used some stuff that worked really good, but its just a lot of work and I'm always busy. Plus I have a lot of little pits all over the truck that go down to the metal, it almost looks like over spray, but its pits in the paint. Worse on the passenger side, so the previous owners must have parked under something that ate the paint. So I really need a new paint job, but I got a quote of $823 with the paint on sale, so that's on hold for a while. It also just gives me an excuse to run through the woods cause I dont have to worry about damaging a paint job:p

Luckily my truck is white so it cant really fade. My PO probably never washed it in the 13 years he owned it. Mine was covered in tree sap/other stuff. At first i thought it needed a paint job but I buffed the entire truck several times and its a lot better. Good enough for a '98.

Also my wheels were basically powder coated with brake dust (Good excuse to Plasti-Dip them though)

I just replaced my pads and they are dusting pretty bad. My old ones didn't, and they were also semi-metallic

It's not that bad. People make it sound like it's terrible, but really at 60 there's so much wind it's not that loud. And my tires whine as well. At 70 you can't hear it over the tires, so I usually cruise at 60. I think a lot of the people who complain about flowmaster drone also cut it so the sound echoes under the truck. Mine is at the stock outlet. If I had to do it again though, I would probably do a magnaflow 18". No drone, and it's supposed to be a little louder. And the flowmaster takes about 5 hp away at the low end. I didn't know that when I put it on

My old tires droned at 45 that was bad hahaha I might have a commute in a year or two so I'd like to have as little drone as possible though it would be at 60mphish so probably not bad either way. They both sound pretty good I gotta say!

Oh yeah. Definitely. I've heard a lot about Thrush and another common one here(borla I think), but I think they sound kind of ricey. Mind you the borla I heard was on a 3.4 with the supercharger. That will change exhaust note

I have a Flowmaster 40 as well. It drones a bit but Ive been happy with it. I just wish it was deeper, but you can only get so much out of a V6 truck
