,,,but Toyota says it is not part of the recall. (as per VIN)

    2005 Sport?? Really??

I had a local trusted (non-dealer) garage fix it.

Any chance Toyota would reimburse me if I gripe enough?

Where should I start? (already tried 2 dealerships - useless)

Unfortunately you will have a hard time getting reimbursed in that situation. Assistance from Toyota would have been more likely if you had the repairs done at a dealership. You will find this to be true of most all manufacturers. Good luck though. Your best avenue would be to contact the regional rep for Toyota and start there.

I don't trust the dealership since they told my wife she needed work done on her AWD system on her 2WD Matrix.

I think they would have found something else wrong to make up for the 'free' clock spring.

Hopefully they will expand the recall and include the rest of us.

In the mean time, I'm gonna complain to somebody.

OT: Is there somewhere we can run our VIN to see if the recall applies to us?
