And now the cruise control does not work. I have the spring and the little metal piece to make the connection for the switch, but thus far have been unable to figure it out.

Westin lights, Westin Light bar holder, New front bumper, Custom floor matts, Steering wheel cover, board in bed to keep groceries from rolling around, new radio, New flat bed cover.
Hey hey hey no reason to get mad.... I would check the connections all the way down to the throttle and see wherever there looks like there is a problem and fix it there.
    Hope this helps.

I'm not even sure how to put the switch back together, and since that it is broken, I am going to say that is the problem.

What is the problem? If you do not give us enough information on the problem how can we help you? Better yet why not post some pictures of what you are talking about.

It seems salvageable, I just don't know how to put it back together. Or if there are any pieces missing.

Exact same thing happened to mine. I've just been too lazy to take a close look at it. Of course I rerely have the opportunity to use the damn thing around here anyway.

OP, if you do figure a way to fix it rather tha buying a new one, please keep us posted. Then maybe I'll get my lazy ass up to fix mine.

From what it sounds like there might be a connection problem right in the on off swich. (I dont have cruise control myself Heavy throttle here I come :( ) but just tighten the connections right at the on off swich and replace the things you said you would.
    Hope this helps

And about the putting it back together. There should be little plastic pushy things that when you push the two sides together there will be a snap and it closes. and if that does not work clear tape would work fine :)
