Fraud makes everyone’s insurance premiums increase. So members are quick to turn people in. It’s not just the salty mods.

The cost of the Taco has nothing to do with it, beyond that fact that most folks paid way less than that.

I've wheeled it to the limits of what I feel the Stock suspension can handle with no problems.

It is said that there is different logic in the SRS ECU to cover wheeling situations. 45mph in the dunes might be out of that range?

Since $40k is barely over the average price of a new car it's not surprising you aren't getting anything special.

If you dig deep enough on YouTube I’ve actually seen Mike Sweers in a video bragging about the PRO’s performance in the desert. I believe in that same video he stated the trucks were designed to ford water but wouldn’t say how deep. I think one thing is certain and it’s you’re not going to be able to lie your way out of how it actually happened.

I would definitely file an insurance claim if you do not want a large out of pocket bill. Seat belt components will likely need or be replaced, headliner will likely need to be replaced, as well as a safety inspection (I'm a collision estimator). Let me know if you need any help.

I found the video I was referring to in my earlier post. It’s pretty good but the part I was talking about starts at around 16:00. I would definitely open a case with Toyota and don’t even bother with the dealership.

There's nothing in the manual stating this, at least not in the air-bag section or in the 4 wheel drive section.

You’re right it was fake news. What I read was in regard to the TSS accessories being deactivated when the locking differential is engaged.

OP, I wouldn’t repair that. Curtain airbags aren’t important and since it sounds like you may wanna go off-road again it will just keep happening. Maybe fix it before you sell the truck.

This is the same guy that straight up said the "vortex generators" on the side view mirrors really help keep the Tacoma stable at speed.

Toyota doesn’t need your permission to view that file...it’s considered diagnostic

“This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations, such as an air bag deployment or hitting a road obstacle, data that will assist in understanding how a vehicle’s systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less.

The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as: • How various systems in your vehicle were operating; • Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened; • How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal; and, • How fast the vehicle was traveling.

These data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.”
