    $105 shipped.

The dimples are there so that the glue (West Systems epoxy - good stuff!) has something to attach to and hold so the scales are rigidly attached. I use corby bolts or SS pins also, the handle will never come off. I dimple the inside of the scale material as well. dimples hold glue better than a flat surface.

I can order some Damascus, but it's not cheap. I love the look for sure, but if I screw one up, it's an expensive screw up.

I have family in LaPlata. Let me know when you have some for sale. I could pick it up. I live across the bridge in the free state of Virginia. I can say that beacuse I grew up in Maryland. Oxon Hill then moved to LaPlata when I was 14 or 15.

I have some for sale in the buy-sell-trade forum. If you pick one up, or meet me in La Plata, I'd knock some money off for shipping - and local home-boy discount. Shoot me a PM whenever you want, I try to answer in a timely fashion, or at least within a few days.

What is the benefit of the "Damascus" style? Is it purely aesthetics?

I did a search on it and it looks ingrained like wood(neat looking). I would imagine the differences in the metals creates problems with keeping the knife sharp?
Honestly, just interested in the 'new to me' product.

I don't really know, maybe someone else can chime in. But, because it's a layered metal, I think that you can use different types of similar steel welded together and it can become very durable, and let's not forget very cool looking. Good Damascus steel is expensive, Pakistan Damascus steel is cheap in every way. I put the emphasis on Pakistan because I see a whole of it at gun shows.

Understood. Looks like amazing work. I have most of my fixed blade needs covered ( esse junglas, esse 6, izula, and swamp rat ratmandu)

But I have been considering more so I’ll get with you if one of them really peaks my interest.

No problems keeping sharpness and it depends on the type of Damascus, there are clad Damascus knives with the core being one type of steel and Damascus overlay and blah blah he can probably explain it better lol

Edit: I can’t make a knife to save my life, but I can sharpen them to hair whittling mirror polished, chubby producing, awesomeness. A coworker had a local guy make him a skinning knife out of Damascus and it holds an edge very well and is easily stropped back to perfection. Definitely not as tough as say 1095 or any tool steel, but I’d put it against a nice pocket knife steel like s90v, m390 etc.

BTW, I have an Esse Izula in 440C, it's an awesome knife. One of the last production knives I own.

Esse is owned by a guy in Gadsden down in Alabama where I live. Tis why I support their company. Not to mention they have an amazing warranty.

I took one of the 1/4" thick 5160 blades out for a test run. Damn, I think I'm going to keep one of 'em. It hacked through a sappling in no time. :sawzall:

Funny you ask. I'm going to be making one for my wife. I've made a few paring knives, but she's looking for a chopper. She uses a big ass meat cleaver and want's something more slimline. I'll post some pictures when I do that one.
