^ thanks - i think that if i do the rests & also hit the speaker grate ( looks hella 1pc cheap when its all gray & part of the door ) with the black in those spots it'll really sport up the interior

x2, and what kind of prep did you do on the window button surround? I've been wanting to do those for a long time. After seeing your results, I'm debating still using my interior paint I used on my radio with good results, or maybe try out your brand of paint.

Nice! I'm also interested in which paint was used. A lot of people on the other forum use dupli-color vinyl and fabric flat black. I would use that too, but then it seems like it's darker than the bbq paint.

i've done the same thing to my truck, window switch panels, door tweeter rings, AC bezel and HVAC control bezel, dome light ring, overhead console, gauge rings and rear window switch bezel.

i scuffed it up with steel wool and then painted with krylon fusion, and then some clear coat.

it's been around a year now and it looks the same as when i did it. so for anyone interested thats another option to go with

mreimann, how did you remove the door tweeter rings and the gauge rings?

on the back of the tweeter rings they use plastic rivets to hold them on. so i drilled those out. then it just pops off, and when i put it back on i either hot glued it or used gorilla glue.

for the gauge rings you take off that cover that goes over the gauges and you can pry them out, they are just held in with little tabs. so use a flat head to push them out. then after you paint them they just pop back in

Thanks mreimann, I'll have to check it out when it stops raining here.

Also, did you use Krylon Fusion for Plastic? Satin Black or Flat Black?

Today is a sunny day after a week of rain. So, I decided to try this out.

I'm stuck, I can't get the left side of the vent bezel out. I also have no clue how to take off the gauge rings. I see two screws above the gauges, i unscrewed them and they won't come out.

    Too many mods to list
I was doing just this yesterday and today... I used Duplicolor Vinyl. Seems like my second bottle was bad paint or something cause my Center Console and the Air Vent and middle trim came out horrible.

The Radio and AC unit came out great though. Im not really sure what to do about the center console and the middle trim part... Thought about sinking it in thinner... like just sinking it in a bucket of it cause I used the adhesion promoter and im pretty sure it aint coming off. Also, I tried to repair it so I had to sand it a bit, has a couple marks. Sigh. I might just end up getting a new center console and trim and painting those again.

Such a bummer when you get a bad can of paint and not notice until its dry...

    Any ideas BTW?

the base model tacoma comes with a black center console. so you could just get one of those and not have to paint it

    Any pictures?

I only used Krylon Fusion Camouflage Ultra-Flat Black. It came out nice overall. There are some areas that are darker than others, but isn't really noticeable so doesn't bug me.
