The times I've read about this before, without an internal spacer the boots tend to slide back into place. Interested in long term results after several thousand miles. May try spacing mine out some.

rumor has it that silicone spray is a reconditioning agent for rubber. I'm sure some one on here will disagree with me, but that's something i heard a while back. i use Teflon with silicon spray on my door seals bi-annually. at least it keeps the rubber black. i haven't seen any premature wear from the Teflon-silicone spray yet. guess time will tell.

Interested in an update on this.

Just spaced mine out today. I took the added step of adding RTV underneath the lip of the boot that gets clamped. Hopefully this will cure and act as an internal adhesive in addition to the force of the clamp and make the boot more resistant to sliding backward.

Isn't there a way to hold the clamp from slipping back? My truck isn't raised, but I would install another clamp 1" from the one that holds the boot, and some how tied this clamp to the first one to hold it in place. Or, I suggest inserting a sheet metal under the clamp, which rests on the ridge under, and this metal will have a raised shoulder on which the clamp will set. Has to be a method, just my 2c.

People have put in internal spacers to fill out the groove in the axle where the boot normally rests. This requires rebuilding the CV though. It's plan B if this doesn't work.

    completely stock
    this!

the one trick that i think i may try is when replacing the stock boot to cut the rubber and leave the rubber and band from the stock boot and install the new boot. use the piece of old boot and clamp as the spacer...

    Darryll,
Thanks for the update. How high, from hub to fender is your front? I have the same lift as you and my CV angles do not look near as bad and my boot fins aren't even close to touching.

    I'm at 23 1/4" hub to fender.

    right front is at 24.0"

I have heard silicone spray can kill your O2 sensor? Not sure if if is true or not? But I still never use around my vehicles.

That might explain it, you're sitting about 3/4-7/8" higher than me on both sides. This might explain why your angles are a little steeper than mine.

I have the taco lean too! My left front is at 22 5/8" and right front is at 23 1/4". Did you crank yours higher after the install?

I think, once the suspensions settles and I need another alignment, I'll put both sides at 23.5" and do your boot mod! I think I will go ahead and safety wire the inner and outer clamps together though, even if unnecessary, it couldn't hurt.

    Also of note:

I've had mine this way a few months, including a couple wheeling trips. No return slippage thus far. Key is cranking the replacement hose clamp down damn tight.
