You would be surprised what some dealers and techs will do to get out of having to do warranty work. Especially warranty work. The technician only gets a fraction of pay versus full customer pay.

I'm aware, but this is going to be a last resort well after all the other items mentioned.

Yeah. The tech is the one who gets screwed out of the dealer. I was a tech for 10 years and it is amazing what people to to their vehicles and then expect it to be fixed under warranty.

is there any reason nobody does the outer boots as well?

a friend of mine "helped" me out by taking the outer clamp off instead of the inner clamp, so now I have a hose clamp on my outer boots as well

but woohoo, now all boots dont rub

Have you had anymore problems, leaking fluid, boot slipping back or the hose clamp cutting into end of boot? I asked my service rep at Toyota and he didn't think it would stay into place because the clamp wasn't in the groove on the shaft itself. I need to do this because my fins are also touching after my 3" OME lift. The rep did say he would cover the boot under warranty if it did tear before the warranty was up. Don't know what to do.

its been about 10 months and about 12000 miles and it is still fine. the clamp is not cutting into the boots, the boots did not slip back, there is no grease leaking, and the fins on the boots are not touching.

Anyone have problems with the hose clamp screw hitting their shocks?

Solutions? Maybe see if I can find a smaller hose clamp that still fits around the axle? Maybe some steel wire wound tight and zipties :D?

Still rubs, but the time spent driving turned is miniscule compared to straight

Why not use new OEM clamps? All you would have to do is buy the crimping pliers to cinch them up.

I would be leary about using hose clamps. They can throw the CV joints out of balance and could explode due to the high rpms the CV joints are turning.

    Just my $0.05
