Hey everyone, I'm on a third gen but figured its all the same. I found a little wear on the fins from my 2" lift and one fin on each inner boot is touching (had it about 3k miles so far). How long have some people ridden around with a fin touching? Trying to gauge how long I can ride around like this. Also, do a lot of you just slide the boot down and reclamp with a new clamp without putting the inner pieces in (like the first OP post)?

Just lifted the truck and I’m hearing like a belt rubbing sound while driving. I’m thinking this is it!! I hope

Thanks for the pic. Did you end up sliding the outers without removing the CV-axle and filling the indent where the boot originally sits, and did it stay? What clamp did you use?

Yep. Experienced this too on first test drive. Did you end up sliding the outers without removing the CV-axle and filling the indent where the boot originally sits, and did it stay? What clamp did you use?

Thanks for this idea. Any updates on how this turned out with the wire tire method? What clamps did you use?

I'm willing to bet this mod works great with OEM boots, probably not so great with the lovely Amazon China products though...
