He's joking, get over it. And just because they issued a recall does not in any way mean it's warranted. Tthey're using the family car crash in Cali as an example. That Lexus didn't even have OEM mats in it so how is that related? This whole thing is ridiculous and is just a CYA move by Toyota to fend off overeager tort lawyers.

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.

The penny would more than likely cause the accelerator to stick before the floor mat did.

I actually got a call from my sales man yesterday telling me to take my mats out if i felt "uncomfortable" because of the recall, he took an email address and said toyota would be sending a mass email today explaining the procedures of the recall.

I asked him, if i removed my mats would he pay to clean my carpet. he laughed and said "pardon my french, HELL NO" lol

I have rugs covering my mats anyways, and they ALWAYS get stuck under the pedals. So its nothing new to me...

Im waiting on a recall of the no JBL radios for being so freakin terrible....

I took the gas pedal out & am using the cruise control accelerate to drive with. Now I can roll with carpeted mats coverered by all weathers covered by weathertechs covered with astroturf wearing my cleats.

I figure that what happens is people go to the full-service car wash, and the vacuum guys yank the floor mats loose to run them through the beater, then don't re-hook them when they're done. Then some body drives it with the mat shoved forward, floors it, accelerator gets stuck, and then the driver is for SOME reason unable to 1) turn off the engine, or 2) put it in neutral; or 3) use the brakes the stop the car regardless of full throttle (yes it can be done).

As installed, properly hooked, I don't see how my mats could interfere with the accelerator. It's just not physically possible.

Awesome. Now, can you photoshop some flaming red devil's horns on the pictures of the floormats that Neontrail provided?
