Yea that is. I forgot to put breather on the end of it. My bad. Also has anyone had issues with it in the storage box? I know OP said in the beginning it can eventually clog in the fuel door area. Anything I should keep out of the storage box after the relocation goes there?

    I said that?
I put mine in the cubby in the bed, drivers side... see photos. Put it where ever you want, but it should be high enough to not ever be underwater and minimal dust, if possible. Look where the SAME breather is for the front differential (near the battery).

Had mine in fuel door for 4 yrs on 1 truck and 2 yrs on the other and never had any issue with it clogging. Clogging with what? More dust and gak accumulates in my storage boxes than the fuel door ever has seen.

I am the OP, and I never said anything (in the beginning or beyond) about clogging in the fuel door area or that is why I didn't put my breather there. I just searched the thread, and about 6 pages back, I found this:

    "AHeppner, post: 9202960, member: 41303"
Sorry, I should be more specific.

What happened was I did this mod several years ago and the differential breather, the one used for this mod (not the stock) fused together.

The metal "cap" on the breather (plastic), pushed into each other and corrosion on the cap cause an air-tight lock.

I do not blame this on ice, but the cap and the materials it's made out of.

The location also had a part in it. Mine was located in the fuel cap area, so I believe I inadvertently pushed the metal cap into the plastic of the body in the breather during fill-ups contributing to the air-block.

Now on my new Tacoma (sold the 07 for a 13), I put it in the bed, as I have a cap/sleeping platform which is more out of the elements and hopefully will last longer (not that 6 years in the gas cap was bad).

Since I blew a seal I just check on my breather it every time I fill the tank.

    Hope this was helpful.

Sounds like bad placement in the fuel door area then. Mine is nowhere that interferes with fillups. ( I know you is OP cuz it says it right by your name on every post )

BTW, if you decide to run the hose to the passenger side compartment bin (next to the 400/100v plug), 6' of hose is perfect. I keep my hitch in the longer bin on the driver side and didnt want that knocking the breather plug so I ran it to the opposite side. I ended up only cutting 4-5" of hose in the end, which left me with enough play in the line also for the flex in the suspension. Thanks for the write up!

tape will give a better seal, with less possibility of water getting in.

    Nice job!
I am an irrigation guy, and always put teflon tape on the sprinkler valve fitting threads to prevent leaking. For sprinkler systems and plumbing pipes, it's so easy to do it right, why do it over?
