I’m not saying you shouldn’t be disappointed, as I would be as well. In all my days of modding cars and trucks I can think of a a handful of companies that truly have excellent customer service. I try to limit my expectations when dealing with these jokers and expect shit service after the “sale.” Saves me a lot of grief.

Thanks for all the responses, surely a lesson learned and will definitely check packages in the future. It’s never happened for any mod I’ve done to the truck or any of my cars where parts are missing so perhaps expectations were different.

I’ve had a company send the wrong product before and made up by covering shipping expenses and giving me a discount code for the next purchase however that is a slightly different circumstance. My point is most other companies who go the extra mile to correct mistakes are the ones who stand out. Strange thing about CBI was that they could have just said no and apologized for the mistake but instead the request was ignored and just felt like dealing with sub par customer service.

I understand mistakes do happen but it’s strange everyone here is saying I should have checked but no one is saying the company should have checked before shipping it out. I do believe CBI is a premium brand and their prices reflect that so I think it’s fair to say the accuracy should be there when it comes to shipping.

Unfortunately the shop is busy for a week and I haven’t gotten the missing parts yet so the install will have to wait. Just looking at them they are pretty heavy duty and well built. I opted for the overland DOM version with kick outs.

Shop was nice enough to wrap them back up in the original packaging and give me a discount when I return for install but really this is something CBI should have prevented. I think I’ll be happy once they’re installed.

I would like suggestions for bumpers and a transfer case skid plate that will work with the OEM TRD Pro skid plate that is of similar or if not better quality than CBI.

Can’t even imagine bringing parts to be installed by a shop without checking the parts list. I’m sure you’ll be checking for hardware in the future, lesson learned, bummer on the time lost.

My CBI skids just came in, less than two weeks from my order date. They came bolted to the pallet which was nice to prevent any damage in shipping. They reached out to make sure everything was good on my end. Great experience overall.

You should always check your packages when received to make sure you got everthing you ordered.
That said If you watched the install vid for CBI sliders you'll see that the J bolts could have easily been installed after the fact in about 5 mins. Your shop could have installed the sliders without them with no problem.

C4 all day. I run their armor and can't say enough good about them. Excellent people and customer service.
Their stuff is tough as nails. A teenage girl rear-ended me about three weeks ago at a stop sign (texting and driving) and slammed into the back of my truck. Her jetta looked like an open tuna can, while I literally had one little scuff on the underside of the swingout and license plate area. A little bed liner to touch it up and you can't even tell it happened.

    C4 donk:

As for your "issues" with CBI, every company has QC problems. Is it excusable? I guess that's up to you to decide. You seem pretty upset about it, so I guess your stance is clear. I'm not knocking you either way. Forgetting to include the proper mounting hardware when you've payed 1000s for their sliders is certainly a PIA. But, sh*t happens, and they shipped you the hardware that was missing. Just remember that there are bigger things in the world.
Also, you can totally install sliders yourself. It's very, very easy. If you have a simple jack and some wrenches you're good to go. Give it a go!

What about just sticking it out and doing the work yourself, grab a buddy with some mechanical ability and lay on the ground like a lot of us have and install your rock sliders on your own, i installed Go Rhino side steps on my Tacoma by myself, let me tell you have a 40 lb. step lay across your stomach while you line up the freaking bolts inst a fun thing, so i used jack stands and it worked a whole lot better. a Helping hand and some time and patience and a good friend goes a long way. You'll be happy in the long run at your own accomplishments and you can find a lot of videos on you tube for help and advice or ask your fellow friends here for advice....

If you read the last sentence of my post, that’s what I said. I don’t want to deal with traveling to get something done and I like to know that things are done right…so I do it myself.

I did read it, i was just giving my point of view. I have learned by doing, I'd rather do something wrong on my own and learn by my mistakes rather than pay a shop to do something I can do myself, what if they broke something and didn't tell you and you found out down the line.

Also, you wanted to protect the powder coat on something that is built specifically to be trashed. Its just a lame excuse to not check the parts list yourself. Own up to this just being a lesson learned.

Weather tech didnt send me the correct mounting hardware for the bug deflector, i emailed them and they shipped me the needed stuff right away. Problem solved. I didnt ask or expect a hug or discount on a future order.

It costs them money to have to ship things out separately, it’s not like they asked you to pay for it so from our perspective they already paid for their mistake. The backlash was that you were asking them to pay for your mistake as well.

    Thread summary:
CBI forgot hardware, OP reached out, CBI sent hardware, problem solved; but OP's still mad because they won't discount his future orders.
There's a few things to be learned. Mistakes happen - reach out respectfully, and the business will often make it right, which they did. Any circumstances outside of the contract you made with CBI (buying a product, them getting the product to you) is not their problem. Everything outside of that purchase agreement is useless information, and while it sucks for you, its not their fault, nor their problem, and they don't care if they lose your business, because they probably understand some people will never be happy, no matter how above and beyond you go for them. If you're a business owner, you probably understand that concept.

"CBI should have checked for the missing hardware, not me" train of thought - CBI should have. You also should have. Most armor companies that ship things freight instruct you to check your product very thoroughly upon delivery, because its not uncommon for things to be damaged or end up missing during the shipping process. This ensures that an honest mistake (like CBI forgetting hardware) can be dealt with timely, and be less hassle on the customer. The company can then dispute the occurrence with the shipping company, not lose anything out of pocket, and be more willing to "go above and beyond" for you because it doesn't cost them anything (or at least not much more). There's nothing saying that CBI didn't check the packing list, and have everything on that pallet when it left their warehouse. But because you didn't inspect your product upon delivery until weeks later, you don't have much to stand on when it comes to you proving their fault. Luckily, they provided great customer service and just took your word for it, and sent you the missing hardware. Were they originally at fault? Probably, but they still did the right thing. You have to take responsibility and understand you were the middle man between CBI and the shop. The shop has absolutely zero fault, and I don't even blame them for not checking all hardware (because you as a 3rd party brought it all in). Its a hard lesson to learn, but the concept of waiting a few weeks to open the package because you wanted to protect it and assumed it was all right and all there, thats on you buddy. If I buy a coffee mug from Amazon as a gift for a friend thats a month or two away, I understand I need to open that package when I get it to ensure its not broken/its the correct product/ensure no issues BEFORE the window of return/refund/replace missing items closes. Waiting until that friends birthday to give them the never opened package isn't the time to figure out its broken, or missing the handle, just as taking parts to be installed at a shop an hour or two away isn't the time to ensure you got the right part numbers/hardware/etc.

Edited to add, I have zero experience with CBI; these are just my thoughts of any business interactions. Also, the customer should never be the one declaring how the company should 'make it right'. Feel free to ask if there's anything further they can do for you for the inconvenience, but demanding a discount on a future order with threat of cancellation from the start, thats just asking for problems, and they know they won't make you happy.

People would hate me as a business owner, bc if I had to deal with stuff like this daily, I'd eventually just change my practices to make you buy the missing hardware (because I'd have instruction to check product upon delivery/require signature). Would that piss you off enough to return the sliders? Probably, at which you can pay for the return shipping and insurance to get the product back, a restocking fee, and then I'd have them sold to someone whos willing to overpay for zero wait time.
