This past 3 years I've had 245/75/r16 Wildpeak a/t3s on my 2001 and I've been really loving them. Other tires I've had on my truck have been the stock goodyear wrangler in 265/70 which were ok I guess, and a random set of highway tires in the stock 265/70 size that the previous owner had on - they were garbage. Switching to the Wildpeaks felt like a eureka moment. The Goodyears felt like a deathtrap in snow compared to the Wildpeaks. I've been incredibly impressed by their ability wallowing through mashed-potato snow on unpaved Class IV roads and the deepest mud season I've ever experienced here in northern New England. Yet they feel pretty comfortable - to me - on the highway. When my current pair is done, I plan on sizing up to a 265/75/r16.

edit - my use case is a daily driver with semi-regular needs to drive up class IV, dirt/fire access roads. My job also requires me to drive to work through the worst of the winter storms.

265s are a great compromise size on the Tacoma. Better than stock but without the drawbacks of 33s. Can also be run at stock height or with a small lift and still looks good.
