Is it? I’m like “eh fuckin THAT guy. Always THAT guy. Maybe I should give it a shot, but I don’t think he’s as funny as he thinks he is”

same with Pete Davidson. How that guy even has a career I’ll never know.

If it helps, I would like to share a more positive experience with the folks at Running Board Warehouse. I don't work there and have no affiliation with them but I did want to share a very positive experience I had in working with them.

First, I ordered a set of steps for my new 2020 Tacoma OR. The steps came and I put them on -- good quality, good fit, good price. In putting them in it is possible that I over tightened the screws that hold the running board to the bracket. Was there a problem with the thread in the nuts counter sunk into the running board? Possibly. But two of the nuts just turned and turned. Could have been me over tightening and stripping. I called. They said they couldn't take them back and re-box because they were already on the truck. I was bummed. Instead, they said, they would treat it as a warranty claim and send new ones out to me right away. I was shocked -- and pleased.

Second, so the new set arrives and they are not the same ones I ordered. I was bummed since the ones they sent were not quite as good. Called again. They said the original ones I ordered were on back order for 15 weeks (production slowed due to the pandemic) and so they sent these. I looked at them again but didn't want them. So they took them back. Paid for the shipping too.

Third, after all of that, we got on the phone and picked another pair pretty close to what I ordered. They shipped these to me and they look great. I will try to not over tighten them.

The point is I didn't get frustrated. Everyone I spoke to was working hard but very polite and professional. And they took care of me until I got what I wanted and was happy with it. Really good people to do business with. Highly recommend. They also own Real Truck which sells tonneau covers. Worth a look. If your experience is anything like mine you will be happy. I plan on ordering tires from them because I figured they deserve my business -- and their prices are pretty good.

No comment or judgment on any of the stuff in this thread. Just wanted to share a positive experience of a good vendor and customer service done right. With all of the shipping back and forth they probably didn't make any money on my transaction. But given how they performed and took care of me I will order additional stuff from them and they will make money on me over time -- that is how good customer service works.

Just wanted to share something positive ... something done right ...

Calls retailer for warranty issue. Retailer tells customer to call manufacturer. Customer hangs up phone and calls manufacturer. Manufacturer takes care of problem Life is too short to get hung up on stupid stuff.

Yikes. OP was bent over a barrell. I paid 751.90 tonneaucoversworld.com for MX4 and they regularly will give up to 20% off if you just mention a TW sale via live chat. You really shouldn't get to bent out of shape about the MX4 because it will dimple on the first light hail storm. So all the complaining is really all for naught. Consider it a utility item and don't appreciate a Tonneau for looks.. ever. It covers your shit in the bed. Good enough.

I ended up canceling my order with them because it never shipped. Over a week went by and nothing.

This is correct. I held for the manufacture for over 45 mins. After 45 mins, I figured I'd call the dealer for help. Turned away a second time.

I eventually dug up the old contact information I had for the manufacture from the replacement lid and handled it that way through the original claim.

the only good thing about backflip is that they sell practically all the parts online. So ive needed a few things to replace here and there and its been no problem to order and find that part.

I think i paid $850 for it. Someone else here had mention they paid in the seven hundreds. When I mentioned this to the dealer they stated I had a long bed and that the mounting system added to the cost. I decided not to waste anymore time on it and pulled the trigger.

It covers my shit, but I may look at switching to a diamond back in the future. Shit is breaking off already so it may not last than long.

Yeah, mines a short bed so that could explain cheaper cost. Honestly, you should just wait for a hailstorm. It will get dimpled. You file insurance claim. Depending on deductable, you gain several hundred dollars and still have a functioning tonneau. Problem solved or you have a little extra for that DB cover that is apparently, made of gold (price).

I don't get the diamond back appeal, maybe from a function stand point, but its ugly AF.

I like the rugged look. What turned me away was the butterfly type opening function. I also MTB, so I need access to at least 3/4 of the bed. The ability to transport a rifle under the lid was also appealing.

Same but MX, also not a fan of the butterfly opening and think its just massive and overdone compared to the rest of the truck, but that's aesthetics, I know guys/gals love theirs.

Uncut gems is pretty good. I had my reservations also but was pleasantly surprised. And his girlfriend in the movie has got one hell of a blowout ass. She's pretty cheeked up

There is no such thing as really good customer service anymore. It disappeared years ago......
For that reason alone, I’ll stick with Amazon. If 3rd parties give me a hard time with a return or damaged product, I simply smile and say Thankyou. Then I proceed to file a claim with Amazon and I win every single time.
Sorry to hear about the awful experience OP.

I sometimes feel bad for these companies that sell large items like toolboxes and covers etc. Its hard to compete with the Amazons of the world than can offer free shipping, no hassle returns etc. I buy from Amazon because it has the best service, not the best prices.

Some of these guys don't actually stock the covers, just place the order from the manufacturer on behalf of the end user and have little control over quality, and or even delivery.

That being said....they have a video talking up their excellent customer service, so that is on them.

BTW.....if I ask for a manager and someone says.......I am the manager....I ask to talk to their dad.

Quick question. My truck came with the Toyota tonneau cover. It seems like an OK one. It came with one of the packages but I priced it separately and it was six hundred and something if I remember correctly, anyhow don't know much about these. Is the Flipback a way better cover for the extra $300.00? Just wondering the benefit of the Flipback?
