The nice thing about the bakflip is that it sits flush on the bed versus the OEM which sits up about 2 inches. Not sure about the material of the OEM but the Bakflip is just a piece of high density foam sandwiched between two pieces of plastic board held in place by an aluminum frame. I chose the MX4 because it gave me access to the entire bed at one time. Not very rugged or secure though. I mean, I would be okay with leaving luggage or something inexpensive back there.

The manager must of caught wind of this thread. He did exactly what you suggested and sent the manufacture an email with me on copy. Too late. Why let it get to this point? Leads me to question if his intentions were to save his reputation versus actually take care of a customer. Based on his attitude on the phone, I choose the former. Either way, I took care of the issue without the dealer.

I had a flush sitting Extang Encore, and it was about 1" to low to hold my Ridgid rolling toolbox. I could not find a tool box that satisfied my needs so I switched to the Diamondback that sits on top like the OEM.

Just something to be aware of on flush mounts.

I've also had a rodeo with these tonneau covers, and learned an important lesson. Who I purchase from is just as important as what I purchase. I had issue with a Bak Roll X on my Silverado, which was the predecessor to the Revolver X2. The thing literally started falling apart. I purchased it from Morrie at Tonneau Factory Outlet and reached out to him for help. He went to bat with the manufacturer and was able to get me a replacement that was well out of warranty, because I had taken photos of the cover as it was coming apart, and emailed him for advice, although I didn't exchange it. I was impressed. When I bought the Tacoma I reached out to him for another cover and he recommended a Truxedo Sentry CT, which I have not had any issues with (yet). I actually sleep well at night knowing that when something goes wrong with a 1k bedcover there will be someone on the other end of the line to help me out.

I almost went with that cover, I really like the look, but couldnt pass up a 3 month old MX4 for $500.

Yeah, after 31 days of waiting I finally gave up. They changed my initial order date from the 30th to the 4th to extend their response time. After being given two separate ship dates in which nothing occurred I finally chose to cancel the order. After 31 days and them contacting BAK, the cover still wasn't even in production and would not ship. I'll stay with Amazon and 2 day shipping, the $83 difference matters little at this point. Horrible experience.
