My Falken Wildpeaks have 3 unfinished sidewall treads

The 3 shoulder lugs above the center side lug look thinner.

 

Shoot, could be. These are C load, I have no need for E tires or the extra weight they bring. Almost went with the General Grabber ATX but I came back to the Falkens because all the Grabbers I could find were E

 

My Wildpeaks have nothing...

 

That is beyond a doubt the corona virus.

 

Who knows. In 265/75R16 the SL range weigh 44 lbs and the E range weigh 55, so it's significant.

Very possible. A lot of the compounds come from the Asian market

I mean ya, 55 extra pounds wouldn't have killed me, probably wouldn't have really noticed, but I figured I would keep the weight down until I was far enough long with the build to actually need it.

 

Let's just say I'm hoping you're wrong. Might not be a bad idea to get them mounted while they're still returnable tho instead of waiting until April like I was going to.

have you ever heard of a tire manufacture doing vynil decals on a tire, especially for small text?

 

Mine are E rated and do not have this.

 

Tire rotation sidewall noise control, by varying the size and frequency of the pattern.
Like off-set lug design on the tread instead of noisy square block lug tires.
Tread design matters when concerned about noise.

 

Can't imagine the wind turbulence those mismatched tread blocks cause. Totally interferes with the engineered airflow designed into the Tacoma during extensive wind tunnel testing. Probably would void the warranty.

I vote it's to do with noise. Most tires have subtle variances to prevent rhythmic sounds.

 

Wow, mine does as well. Been on a year and never noticed.

 

Could it be for balance reasons?
