    All this talk about racing gets me excited! And I have had no problems with my Turbo charged Supra. Never really considered my truck fast but I would be happy to prove what a turbo can do with 380hp at the rear wheels..

    isn't the only parts on a supercharger the main belt drive to the internal twin screw compressor? Turbo's have waste gates and the reservoir release valves and the turbos themselves on the exhaust line?

    I mean, I've never specifically counted the parts, but it just seems like there would be more on a turbo set up.

    Also, all I said was I'VE found them to be unreliable. I'm sure its like anything else, put the coin into it and you can get them pretty reliable. But it seems like you could get more boom for your buck with a supercharger, at least for our Taco's.

    I would have to agree with you there on both points, I wouldn't consider putting a turbo on my truck there is a lot to it. A supercharger is on the mod list for my truck:cool:

    They usually have bypass valve too limit boost pressure of some sort as well. Turbos have actually gone the way of superchargers, having both the bov and gate on the turbo housing and having electric actuation

    bov = ?????? Bypass gate??

    Also, i should probably mention this now, I know vague basics about turbos, never taken the time to learn them as I have with superchargers

    I found out last week my Xr's worth 24,000$ to trade in, so fuck yea I would in a heartbeat cause i'm only sitting at 15k left to pay off, in 2 years when the 3rd's are released thats my plan. If everything goes according to plan I'll probably strike a deal and send it to Gadget at URD to be his prototype for the 3rd gens :D

    Then all of you doing tuning after will have a little bit of me in all your 3rd gens :D

    thats if everything goes according to plan in life.

    You need to do more research. I am a turbo fan myself. As long as they are maintained, they are just as reliable as a stock vehicle. Look at all the old ass turbo volvos or turbo diesel mercedes. Also, there are plenty of old turbo subarus running high boost levels - the turbo components are not what goes bad.

    Superchargers introduce parasitic drag on your crank. In other words, it reduces the output of your engine in order to increase the output of your engine. Makes sense right? :rolleyes:

    Turbos on the other hand, the exhaust gas is already coming out of your motor with a high velocity and pressure. Why not recapture that pressure for your benefit?

    Parasitic drag - fail. Recapturing existing energy - win.

    I am younger than you. Doesn't mean you can't still do your research if you want to be a performance guy.
