True, just in case he gets at you in case the police cant be there instanly when he shows up. From what it sounds like shooting someone in self defense suddenly voids the original crime and you end up in more trouble than the perpetrator!

Depends on what state you're in.

Dad who beat child molester to death in Texas never went to jail and was found innocent by grand jury.

    Then there's Zimmerman.

A "good shoot" is a good shoot, and the police are very good at determining whether a situation is a good shoot or not.
That is one BIG reason not to talk to ANYONE about the incident other than your attorney. HE will talk to the police for you, and he will be present when it is time for you to answer questions and he will tell you when not to answer.

Too many people talk their way into jail in their attempt to be helpful.

A "good shoot" will get sorted out, and unless the local DA is trying to make a name for himself or has a boner for "gun nuts", will not likely ever go to criminal trial.

...but there WILL be a civil trial.

Well that makes sense, it IS their job after all. Just trying to help the OP w suggestions! Good luck with this deal, and definitely be safe as possible. Some legal inconviniences are definitely not worth risking loss of life.

OMG OMG OMG!! This whole taser thing reminded me of when I went to the grocery store!! This weirdo was at the checkout counter, behind where the checkout lady was and he was holding her and saying something in her ear. She looked upset and then the manager came over and pushed her back and was trying to get the guy to leave by asking him and pointing toward the door.

The guy became combative and grabbed the manager. By then the cops came. They started shouting for the guy to let the manager go but he wouldn't. After a while of struggling between the manager and the weirdo, the weirdo pulled out what was thought to be a power drill. (Don't ask me where he had it, heck, I don't know).

The cops pulled out the tazer, shot it off and got the manager!!! The manager was shaking on the floor, the guy got up and ran! HAHAHAHA

Of course they wrestled him down and caught him.

The ambulance came and they tended to the weirdo before they tended to the manager, who was now having issues on the floor. One of his employees took him to the hospital, while the weirdo got into the ambulance.

Is that crazy or what??? Haha!!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I didnt realize this thread would get this popular. I think tomorrow I am going to get some bear mace and a security camera to place on one of their trees by the driveway. It just really bugs me and makes me paranoid. Apparently his parents are sending him to Africa but it doesnt add up at all. He has a court date coming up and his parents have lied for him before. By the way my sister in law has done absolutely nothing to this guy. He asked her to a dance in Junior High and ended up bailing on her. It seems like he picked a random acquaintance from his past.

    Careful.

Bear spray is not legal for use against humans.

Granted, neither is shooting them, and in a legit self-defense situation, it may seem that anything goes... but I've been told by smart attorneys that bear spray is a big problem for the defense, not unlike hitting them with wasp spray.

Maybe that's what happens in California, but here in Texas, if you are threatened, you have the right to defend yourself and your property. Texas uses a grand jury system to determine guilt or innocence in those types of situations, and keeps the lawyer at bay.

I will pray that he finds peace in his heart and matures a great deal and stays away so the above never has to come to pass.

Why is that? Isnt it the same concept as regular mace? Regular mace is legal to use in those types of situations.
