    December 21st. 2015.

Well guys. At age 17, the time has come. And it's my fault and out of my stupidity.

Back in California, these tires were completely fine for daily use due to no rain ever. However, when moving to Tennessee, I began to research and found that my mud terrains do piss poor in snow and rain. Well, I'll just have to save money for all terrains, I thought.

I am now in Tennessee, and went to drive my mom to the grocery store. It just rained a tiny bit, and was now dribbling rain.

The roads were nice and slippery.

Coming up to a stop sign, headed down hill, I breaked like I normally do, however, I wasn't slowing down enough to my liking. So I pushed a little harder. Bam. The tires were completely locked up and I was sliding rapidly. I tried to break, downshift, and turn... But I just kept sliding and there was no way out of it.

The people I hit were very nice, I explained that I was super sorry and that it was my fault. They didn't understand English very well, so we were talking to their nephew that lived just down the street. Filed a police report. And was just thankful nobody was hurt.

Drove away feeling like an idiot.

Yeah, as far as I see, only the grille was cracked, and the bumper bumped. Which is surprisingly little damage compared to the other guy.

Being a fellow Californian, you know we cant drive in rain. :D

Seeing that most of your driving is on roads, and we have no ABS, i highly recommend getting SUV tires with street tread.

Good thing there were witnesses and a report. Not speaking english usually means fake medical claims are going to pop up. Had a similar incident when i backed into someone at 2mph (reverse with foot feathering brake). Whole Hispanic family in crammed into a tiny Nissan, all were fine until 3 days later when my insurance company told me they are all claiming back and neck injuries.

    Thanks for posting.

    Glad no one was hurt.

That was very responsible of you to admit fault and take the blame. It gives me hope that the next batch of young people are going to be just fine.

As I've said before, educations are expensive, embarrassing or painful... Sometimes all three.

    Thanks again for posting

    What they said.

Your truck is fine to drive in the rain as it is, you just need to drive differently than you would in fair weather. Tires will help take some of the learning curve out, but it's a driver mod that will serve you best.

Drive slower, brake earlier (and easy, to avoid lock up and slides).

    Happens.
I crashed when I was 16 like 2 weeks after getting my license.

Mine was also due to stupidity. But like the cop told me when it happened, they don't call them on purposes they call them accidents.
I've been a better driver since then. It's a learning experience.

    Glad you're okay tho!

Kudos to you for accepting fault and responsibility. Not sure I would have done that at 17 years old. Your truck held up great!
