I don’t blame you … it’s sub 1000 miles with the most reliable brand there is.

Shouldn’t be an issue considering most owner derps don’t even know what oil is

I doubt vandalism, it worked fine for 100+ miles before the light came on and I have a driveway in a boring suburb. Ill definitely post an update as soon as I talk to them.

Any possibility you could have hit the oilpan on anything?

Was it low pressure or low oil, there is also a low oil indicator too is memory serves me.

Other than a hole in your oil pan, you'll be covered under warranty, and will probably be able to talk them into extending you warranty depending on what they find.

It's most unlikely that a dealer would have treated a new truck with Fluid Film, assuming you actually meant that rust prevention product.

I think you found your oil loss.

Now. Did it start at the front of the engine, as in the timing cover? Maybe around the filter area, as in not a good seal?

So did I actually read some of these comments correctly?

Are we now blaming people for not checking the oil level in brand new vehicle?

    Un-fucking-real....

Some folks here have a god complex. The whole " I am and know better than you". Hell some of them didn't even test drive their trucks before buying it....

Today was supposed be the first time the truck saw a real dirt road, definitely no oil pan damage.

I'm pretty sure it was low pressure, but I could have that wrong.

Yeah, you read them right. I guess it was wrong to assume toyota would deliver a vehicle with the correct amount of oil. I'm big on maintenance, tire pressure, fluid levels, etc., but I thought I could get away without it for 500 miles

I should have clarified, first thing I did to the truck was spray the frame, skid plate, bolts, and some suspension parts with fluid film. It was definitely fluid film there, but if there was an engine oil leak I couldn't find it

Well then you just have a major inconvenience,
Toyota will cover your towing and rental and and emergency hotels etc,
Just not your time wasted or the fishing pictures you missed out on.

If it's any consolation this will be the first time I've heard of this issue with a Tacoma.
Normally I only hear of the low pressure/level light coming on when on an incline, never that it was actually out of oil.

Sorry but you don't even get a ribbon for being first in this case.

Keep us posted I'm real curious as the the cause.

Not filling the oil is not a defect. I’d demand a new engine. That’s absurd.
