Sig P226 Navy is identical to the pistol carried by the U.S. Navy SEALs-the fleet's special warfare operators

    Lots of great advice given...

Personally, I prefere the 10mm round because it'll pierce most motor vehicle metals, brick walls, residential & commercial
doors, etc, and stands a great chance of stopping a lion or bear if necessary... (hey, you just never know... now do you?)

The .44 mag is a good bit too much. A .45 would be a far better choice- smaller with great stopping power.

The .40 (smaller lighter version of the 10) and the 9 are both popular and readily available. Hard to go wrong with either one.

If you can, shoot a few before you buy; choose the one you feel most comfortable with. That's the bottom line...

Yeah I chose the 10mm for it's penetration and velocity (hydrostatic shock). It was developed specifically for use in mixed situations where the target would be behind cover (doors, walls, automobiles) which make it a good carry weapon, but not a home defense weapon unless you live alone.

That's the way I'd go. One of many reasons is I would rather have a pistol with a steel trigger than one with a plastic trigger.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
There are quite a few semi auto cartridges that can bring it. AE Desert Eagle is chambered in 44mag, 45super is another, .50GI, the list goes on.

In re OP....40 is not a good choice in deep conceal. snappy in a big platform, obnoxious in a small one. .380 is minimal...what's wrong with 9mm?
Good bullet and velocity selection, available everywhere for a decent price, good capacity, better recoil and followup than 40SW.
My choice for concealed carry is Kahr PM9.
Don't let anybody tell you 9mm is a weak cartridge...it's not...ask them how many 9mm bullets they've eaten...;)

Wrong...similar energy, sharper recoil pulse....unless you go to 45acp +P

Despite the fact that you can get a Desert Eagle chambered in 44 mag it's not considered a semi-automatic pistol round.

.45 Super is not a commercially available cartridge, nor is 50 GI. And both have energy levels significantly lower than 10mm.

    What else you got?
